thanks for the comments guys. I have made 4 small pins to attach the crew compartment together and ordered 2mm magnets to hold things in place. cheap enough at 99p with free delivery for 8 Current builds: HMS Victory, hachette black pearl, DC-3, R2-D2, Millennium Falcon

got some of the small parts painted with primer but I have had to replace my games workshop brushes. they have hardly been used and i clean them as soon as I have finished painting but they are loosing there shape with hairs sticking out in all directions.    I have fitted small pegs and magnets to the crew section so it can be opened. i need to apply filler and paint again then i can start putting the detailed parts in.  I have also got the crew seats just about finished but the metal peg on the middle arm rest seems to be in the wrong place, I will have to remove it and repaint it. I also painted the parts before putting them together. I have also taken on board Kevs comments about airbrushing. there was a small kink in the end of the needle which I have removed. I have also dropped the air pressure right down as I had it at about 40psi and started to use thinners even though vallejo model air is not supposed to need it. Thanks for the comments and tips. I will be buying some brush cleaner as those series 7 weren't cheap. Is acrylic paint usually soft, do I need to seal the paint? The slightest knock and it seems to scratch off But saying that I am having a nightmare remove the paint from the cockpit roof. Nice work Bazholding. I've got some Series 7 brushes too. A couple of things I've leaned from others regarding them: 1) Don't mix mediums. One brush, one medium. 2) You know those tiny hotel bottles of hair conditioner? Before storing your brush dip it into the hair conditioner, form the tip of the brush between your fingers and store it away. When you go to use it again the dry conditioner will just flick off like dust and you're ready to go. Now I guess I should get started on DC-3 box 1 (of the three that I have so far.)  Bill

Getting back into this now I now have all the parts for the model but I am going in a different direction to the instructions. I am building all of the frame first so I can make sure everything connects flush and square first, then if any modifications are needed it will be to the interior so it won't warp the outside of the model. I am also planning on adding more removal sections using magnets and I'm going to see if I can fit a battery compartment in the tail section. she is starting to get big. Looking really good Baz and pleased to see that you are moving on with your build diary, well done. 
I am intrigued by the white mouldings around the cockpit and atop the upper main fuselage, as I don't recall seeing that in the official build diary? Are you vac-forming them in plastic sheet and if so will you be skinning the whole aircraft like that instead of the supplied metal sheeting?

Thanks for the comments. I went all proud of what I had done to show the girlfriend and she just said where are you going to put that once you get the wings on lol Yeh I like the frame, almost seems a shame to cover it all up. The plastic mouldings come as part of the kit, I though the middle section of the roof may have been wood but it's also plastic. It needs a fair bit of sanding to fit and it's slightly warped so when the main frame is all aligned I plan on heating it with a hairdryer then putting it in place to take shape Current builds: HMS Victory, hachette black pearl, DC-3, R2-D2, Millennium Falcon
