Thanks Willie, the card readers are not a problem, it's just that my other computer has one built in. Unusual to find a local in Lossie, it always seemed full of various RAF personnell with an abundance of English accents, but since your local I'll let you be to enjoy your Press and Journal, (if it's still printed) Come on you Jimmies

It's been a while since I last posted any Victory pics, I've been saving up the magazines to do a bit of a "blitz" on her, I know that's probably not the way to go about it, but personally I feel better when I have a lot to do rather than a little bit. I've got the upper deck planked I used a different method to that in the magazines, it's worked out OK for me, now I've got to sand it, which I am finding akward, so if anyone has any advice then can you help me out, here is the problem. When I sand deck areas I always end up with a slightly concave surface, as the middle is easy but I have problems at either end, and the sides, as they then end up thicker as I can't seem to get the sanding block right up to the edge. I have tried sanding "sideways", but then it looks odd compared to the rest of the deck, has anyone got any great tips for deck sanding? Come on you Jimmies

bob you need differing shapes of sanding blocks, there are several threads on here which cover this problem,I like to plank the floor outside of the boat, but with this design you hav'nt got the choice,so,get some sticks of various shapes and stick some sandpaper onto them,I use the wife's(she not looking)abrasive nail files, the sort that look like sandpaper. Thanks Karl, I got some 12mm nail files which were ideal for the gunports, so I'll use them. We could do with a sticky with "hint and tips", that does not get filled up with other comments to make it easier to look for help and ideas that are tucked away in another thread. BTW thanks for the double planking help, I got a rapid dry white glue from Cornwall Boats, it does the trick quite well, and as long as you leave it to go tacky, it does not cause the thin planks to curl up. Ok time for some pics of where I'm at, ignore the flakes of wood and stuff, I'm in the middle of sanding. The masts are from my Cutty Sark, I did some work on them while at an athletics event with my daughter, it helped pass the time. I've put them on Victory to keep them out the way to avoid damage, but it gives some idea of what she will look like later. saintsman123 attached the following image(s): Come on you Jimmies

hello everyone, just thought would let you all know thet i can't build any more. After a bit of a long ilness ive lost the use of my right hand so can't do any more on the old girl. i have been getting some help from ian (underhill) as we both live n the same town, but it's not the same,as doing it yourself, so ive decided to stop, and hope someday that i might get some feeling back in the hand. my eldest son has said he will help, but i might as well wait for the next set of flying pigs to go by, hes a good lad and has landed on his feet with a wonderfull apprenticeship at perkins engins, but trying to tie him down for a bit of help on victory is like trying to stop the tide coming in. good luck to everyone with their builds espesially s o bulwark who i think with his troubles has done a wonderful job and is to be admired, thanks to johnny7 for help with the cutty sark, which i finished apart from the rigging just before evrtything went wrong, ill have to post a pic sometime ill be watching th forum with interest to see how everyone is getting along and might even make a few stupid comments along the way bob Come on you Jimmies
