Have you tried dislodging the hull formers with a soft mallet?

Since you have little to lose (if you are already resigned to getting back issues), you might try localised applications of hot water to the joins to soften the glue first. if you are careful, you might just get away with it without warping the false keel.

Good luck - I hope you manage to sort it out.

I did consider using a 12lb sledge hammer to dislodge the formers and an application of naked flame to melt the glue but once the missus heard the swearing all items which coiuld cause harm were hiddenCrying

Funny thing was, that after checking up on the bow parts from Issue 1, I noticed that the front bulkhead was no longer square to the bow former (which also seemed to have gone a bit squinty).

Having to separate the parts (even after gluing) wasn't too troublesome with an X-Acto and a bit of firm tapping with a rubber headed mallet. They are now currently clamped firmly between two sheets of heavy glass plate (with wooden offcuts to spread the points of contact).

It doesn't always pay to use too much glue.

Ok so here goes the anchor, Despite saying previously that I would follow the instructions precisley and as I have got a buckshee anchor I thought that I would try using white card instead of the string. I am mildly pleased with the result. Also I used a model saw and craft knife to fashion the recesses in the spars for the anchor rather than filing them out.

Ok so what have I learnt from assembling the cannon?
1. Paint wheels before assembly.
2. When trimming axles trim to about 2mm not the 3 as suggested in instructions (Less to file down)
3. Rather than applying glue direct to componants. dispense glue into a plastic milk bottle top and use a cocktail stick to apply glue.

I am still planning to make all the cannons etc in one hit reasons are.
1. Less paint wasted. Each time you stir the pot and clean the brush paint is wasted and whilst the pot is open the paint begins to dry and therefore thicken. (Tight beggar)
2. The various techniques that I develope for each build will not have to be relearnt as it could be months between each cannon.
3. Easier to store parts in the transit packaging
