Thanks for the comments Mick & Derek, it really is a joy to put together, everything fits so nicely. I will say that sometimes you could do with an extra pair of hands  You also need to be oh so careful so as not to slip and scratch the beautiful paint job  Stage 21This is where we assemble the leaf springs, 6 in total. Its a pretty straight forward process although can be fiddly with the small parts. Once assembled they are then attached to various parts of the motion frame and equalising bars using the supplied brass bushes. Stage 22We are supplied with the second of the wheels in this stage as well as axle boxes for these wheels and the previously supplied wheels. The axle boxes go together over the wheels axle, use some masking tape to hold them together while you then lower the wheels into position on the underframe. Once in position they are held in place with an axle box guard that is secured to the frame with screws. You will then need to disassemble the wheels from the first stage and follow the same process as above with the axle boxes to attach the wheels to the frame. Now that you have 2 sets of wheels on its added quite a considerable amount of weight, and there are still several more sets to come Stage 23Here is another one of the sets of wheels to come, this one looks like it will be the main drive wheel. Same process as before, fit the axle boxes, drop into the frame and secure with the axle box guards. We now move onto the assembling the connecting rods and attaching to the wheels with the supplied bushes. Its really important to pay close attention to the diagrams to ensure you get the nuts on the right side otherwise they will catch when the wheels are rotated, I know through experience, look closely at pictures 14 & 15 and you will see I took the picture before I realised the nut should be on the outside Stage 24More connecting rods need to be assembled in this stage, again pay close attention to the orientation of the parts. Stage 25 Assembly starts by laying out all the parts of the value gear before securing them all together as show in the diagram. Unfortunately due to an SD card getting corrupted I am missing pictures of this stage. At step 4 in the instructions you need to prepare the connecting links, combination levers, piston valve spindles and screws. When looking at the combination lever, 2x4.5mm screws are used in the end with two holes and 2x3.6mm screws in the end with one hole. Stage 26 Place the reverse shaft over the recess in the motion frame, you need to make sure the holes are the rear. Now you need to attach the piston valve assembly from the previous stage with the motion plate holding it all in place. The hanging links need to be pointed up when they are between the motion plate and motion frame. 3 screws then secure the motion plate to the motion frame keeping it all in place. Next you use stepped screws to secure the hanging link to the crosshead and the eccentric rod to the return crank. Do this for both sides. To finish off you take the reverse link, they are different shapes for left and right, and secure to the reverse shaft finishing off by securing the hanging link to the reverse link. Stage 27 We now assemble the leading truck, this is quite simple after the fiddly and technical last stage  Everything is bolted together with the nuts and bolts. Stage 28 In this stage we just attach the four links to the leading truck mount and then attach the truck mount to the truck frame. When you start building all the leavers and rods you start to really appreciate just how technical this model is  davetwin attached the following image(s):

Thanks all for the comments. Time to do some catch up. Stage 29This stage is started by assembling the leaf springs which are then attached to the frame of the leading truck. Nothing overly complicated here, you'll need to pay attention to the orientation of the parts. Stage 30We start by attaching the two supplied wheels to the truck with the solid wheel at the front and the spoked wheels at the rear. The wheels are secured in place by attaching the stays to hold them in. The whole truck assembly is then attached to the frame. Stage 31The first step is to attach the handle to the smokebox door, the handle should protrude about 1mm. The headlamp casing is then attached to the top of the smokebox. Once the glue is has dried the LED wire is then threaded through the whole in the headlamp housing and through the back of the smokebox. davetwin attached the following image(s):

Stage 32This stage starts by applying the lock bar into the smokebox. Then handle is then assembled and attached to the smokebox door with the lock attached to the end. To finish off handrails are attached to the front around the outside of the smokebox door. Stage 33This stage starts the assembly of the boiler. This is just a simple case of attaching the boiler joints to the lower boiler half. Care needs to be taken not to slip off of the screws and damage the paintwork. Stage 34Here start by attaching handrails to the upper boiler half, you need to make that the holes are all lined up. Next the safety value is glued to the top of the boiler half. Then more handrails to the smokebox. We then need to remove the boiler joint from the smokebox and glue in the superheater header. This is a good example of not getting distracted as initially I glued this in the wrong way round, luckily this part wont really be seen so the glue residue has mostly been left, I did do a little clean up since taking the photo. The four holes in the joint need to be taped ready to attach to the boiler lower and upper half parts. When taping I always apply some washing up liquid with a cocktail stick to act as a lubricant, this always make it a little easier. Finally the upper boiler half and the lower half are joined together, again be careful not to slip and spoil the point. Now the boiler joint is attached before the whole boiler assembly is attached to the smokebox. Finally the water supply pipe is attached. davetwin attached the following image(s):

Stage 35Another section of the boiler is prepared with the safety base and cover, with the safety valves being added. This section is then added to the previously assembled boiler section, its getting quite long now Stage 36This stage starts with by attaching a control leaver to the boiler. Next fusible plugs are attached to the firebox half followed by handrail brackets. A joint plate is then attached before this is then attached to the boiler assembly Stage 37This stage starts by assembling the fusible plugs into the second firebox wall and then again attaching handrail brackets. Next the ATS is attached to the wall before attaching the wall to the boiler assembly and the wall previously attached. To finish off a generator is attached to the top of the firebox. Ive included a picture with a ruler to show just how big this thing is The quality of the parts are also quite impressive. You'll have to excuse the greasy fingerprints, these will be cleaned up later. I will also to the paint touch up a little bit later in the build. davetwin attached the following image(s):

Pack 6
Stage 38This stage we start attaching all the bands that go around the boiler, pretty straight forward work, although I left mine a little loose in case I need to adjust them later in the build for other parts. I will tighten them all fully before attaching the boiler to the chassis. Stage 39In this stage we build the sand spreader pipe main cocks. We start by attaching the pipe main cocks to the come. I am using Araldite epoxy resin glue for all my gluing. Once all pipe main cocks are attached it is set aside to try. Stage 40 - Sorry I seem to have lost some pictures for this stage This stage starts off with building up the boiler steps and then attaching them to the boiler with screws, A step is then attached to the top which also acts to cover the screws. Next we start building the sandbox lid by first attaching the stopper the lid. Once the glue has dried a lock bar is slid underneath the stopper and held in place on the lid with a screw and nut. The lid assembly is then added to the sandbox shaft with a hinge PIN being applied to hold it in place, a small tab of glue holds the hinge securely in place. Once everything is dry the sandbox shaft is glued to the dome. We also add the whistle and control valve. The dome is then secured to the boiler with a screw in the sandbox shaft. Finally a control valve crank is glued to the control value axis and then to the control lever already attached to the boiler earlier. The build is really starting to get interesting now with lots of details starting to be added  davetwin attached the following image(s):

Must admit i really do like that pre-painted finish - i think that a real plus point with this particular model. Hope it continues to go well. Happy Modelling
