davetwin wrote:Great weathering on the Bandai kits Lee, I love the R2D2. Is that the effect you are going for with the DeAgostini one? Probably not quite to that extent.

Great job on your Bandai kits. If your DeAg R2 comes close to those it will be a classy build. Graeme

Ok So I am loving this, all the electronics work and look great so now the tricky stuff. Not losing the screws lol and making sure the correct screws are in the right places. lholland attached the following image(s):

So I thought I would check the official build again for the metal ring parts. Glad I did as it turns out the screws for this piece should be the smaller silver screws from issue 5. Not the ones stated from the magazine. lholland attached the following image(s):

Ok here we are at issues 9thru12. Not a lot to paint this time but had fun putting the bits together and seeing the dome take shape. Man this thing is going to be heavy when its finished. Have ordered some MIG Starship fifth to play around with as that looks like it gives the exact result I am looking for on the overall body panels when we get them. Thanks Mark Warren for the heads up on that. File Attachment(s): lholland attached the following image(s):

Ok. Missed posting last month but caught myself up now and things are looking very sweet with the build. The electronic parts are fantastic so far and I for one cannot wait to see it all together. I know the build time has taken a little less over the last couple of months but that's not a major problem for me as I can spend the time on the exterior painting effects.

Thinking of making a build diary for this too. Especially as it will sit next to R2 when finished. File Attachment(s): bb8.jpg (364kb) downloaded 61 time(s).
