Cheers Al, yep this is "Smoking". LOL LOL

Today`s update includes the following:

Fit the mountings to the release lever and then fit that to the front beam.

Then the construction of the inspection lids and steps, fitting them to the front deck and then fitting the Deck sides.

That`s now complete to the end of stage 8. Cool

Is this a pretty straight forward build? I have been interested in this one since it came out.

Joel,
I built the D57 and it is an easy build. There are quite a few steps to each months parts too.Very high quality parts with great fit.

It's is a pretty straight forward build Joel. As others have said you just need to be careful with not putting on too much adhesive so that it doesn't squelch out everywhere when applying parts. Also just need to be careful you don't slip with the screwdriver.

Making some really nice progress Derek Cool

Hi All, BigGrin

Such a great response from people and some great tips. Many thanks.

Short update today as the weekend starts here and its earlier to bed.

Laugh Laugh

So, first off make the steps for the front deck, nothing difficult but another place to go easy on the adhesive.

Then the steps are fitted to the front deck. Found this a bit fiddly but not difficult. Each one has three screws to fit.

Fit the two grab bars with a minimal amount of adhesive and we are almost there.

Last thing to do for stage 9 is to fit the front air hose. Again be careful with the adhesi..... I think you are getting the idea. LOL

Well that`s it for the C57, stage 9 complete.

Will pick up again next week, other fish to fry. Blink

That looks like a very satisfying build you have there.

I really do like that pre-painted finish and if my next project (uss constitution) had not been immanent i think i would certainly gone for this one.

Hope it all continues well.

Hi All,

Thanks again to all the responders and viewers, it really is appreciated.

Cool Cool Cool Cool

So, as promised we are back with the C57 for this weeks updates.

It`s now I`m beginning to see the true size of this kit, when you start building up the main underframe.Blink

So, what`s involved?

Things to make note of:

Orientation is the main thing here to be careful of in these stages and one place where the glue must be used sparingly.

Stage 10:

Fit the main frames with the brake supports and the main frame brace. Like I said just be careful with the orientation of parts.

Stage 11:

Extend the main frame font end and add the smoke chamber support and truck support.

Stage 12:

Fit the cylinder covers to the cylinder rear plate.

Add the cylinder front plates and then the rear plates.

That`s it and I can`t believe I`m 1/6 through this build already.

Blink Blink Blink Blink

Here`s the pics anyway.

Thanks to those who looked in and for the above comments.

Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool

So, this is the update that gets things up to date as far as I`ve got.

Stage 19 and 20 included here also brings pack 3 to a conclusion.Blink

Not shown here (but is in the instructions and official build)you build the Motion Frame to square it up, then remove one piece. Fit the large part (three sides) and then replace the peice you removed. It allows you to twist the frame into place and make sure it`s square for future parts of the build.

What to do for stage 19 and 20:

Make up the motion frame
Fit the motion frame

Position bar and fit bush
Position bracket
Fix bracket and bar with 5 screws
Repeat with second bar and bracket on the same side
Then repeat with two bars and brackets on the opposite side

This concludes pack three, with pack four to be started soon and that`s the start of the wheels. (Will start to look like the real thing then)

Hi All,BigGrin

Have a small apology to make Blushing Blushing .

Thought I`d caught up, but hadn`t downloaded the last pics I took. So one more update here.Blink

This is stage 21 the first stage in pack 4.

It involves the fitting of the leaf springs X6, three each side.

Pics below:

Parts, lots of.

Make up 6 leaf springs taking care of the orientation shown in the instructions.

Fit the leaf springs on one side. (Two pics)

Repeat on the other side.

End of stage pic.

From here the build goes on to fit the main wheels in the next stage.

It`s gonna start to look like the real thing when the wheels are on, can`t wait. Next update soon.BigGrin
