Another small update. I left the modelling alone for a while as I genuinely was too hot to do anything down here in the SE. I've started again by adding the stern and the gunwales to the model. Stern was simple enough. Stained walnut, varnished, then glued on and pinned. The gunwales were more complicated as they had to be soaked and bent around the bow. I was terrified of breaking them, but I got there with the aid of warm water and an electric plank bender. stained and varnished walnut, then glued and pinned on. Come across my first fitting problem with it today though. The actual gunwales don't appear long enough. There are tabs that they fit onto, so they are positioned correctly, but they don't meet the keel line at the front. You can see this is in the 2nd pic. That might cause me to get a bit creative when it comes to fitting the keel later on. Still, its one of the hazards of building with wood. Nothing ever goes as planned! Next stage is fairing (easy as its quite small), then planking. Again, pretty easy as you dont plank the bow.
