BigGrin Hi Jerry,

I have considered starting it late, even now, but the wife says she can't increase my 'pocket money' anymore!! LOL Got three major projects on the go at the moment and more under the bed, so I kind of see her point!! Watching yours and Mikes' builds with interest though, keep up the good work and keep the photos coming ThumpUp

Centre Console:

The main body of the Centre console has been painted & polished to give a similar look to the driver's seat - though for some reason it has come out lighter??Confused, but never mind - it looks OK
I also added some small detailing to the interior control panel

Next up will be the extra engine detailing

The Engine:

Next up is the main bulk of the engine, except the fan - as that is part of the next shipment.
There was quite a bit to detail/modify on this, including:
  • Distributor
  • HT Leads
  • Oil Filter
  • Starter Motor
  • Gaskets
  • Dipstick (who Me??) LOL
  • HT Lead clamp

BigGrin Hi Jerry,

Nice work there mate and it looks like all the hours of effort you have obviously put in, are paying big rewards!! Superb effort, love the gasket effect, very convincing and the HT leads look very cool as well!! Keep up the good work and I follow it with interest!! ThumpUp Love

Just a thought Jerry, as your build is looking so realistic (and yours Mike) .... since this is an older Aston will you be running it on 'unleaded' or will you have to put an additive in the tank?? LOL LOL

Weapons Tray update:

I was not fully happy with the overall finish of the handle on the weapons tray Angry
So decided to revisit it & smooth the joins around the handle I had added. At the same time I used some dry-brush weathering paint to give the gun and other 'metallic' parts some depth. I think it looks a lot better.

More Engine updates to follow soon

Fan Belt:

With the Fan belt assembly, i thought i would take direction from some of the other builders, & enhance the alternator with a small scratch-built fan. Unfortunately, my cat liked the look of it & tried to steal it before I could use it.Angry She must think she is a Magpie not a cat!LOL

I also added some 'rust' to the exhaust manifold, as it was just too shiny - it looks much better now.

Next up will be the engine bay, when I have decided what improvements I want/need to makeBlink

Thanks Kev, though I can't take credit for the idea of the alternator fan, I saw it on Mike's (MWG) build first.
That is one advantage of being so far behind, I can cherry-pick the best modsBigGrin

Engine Bay:

Hi, back with the next installment - sorry for the long delay. It took me a while to find a suitable replacement for the washer bottle. In the end, I stole a lip gloss lid from my daughter LOL.
I cut this down & painted the inside with some clear blue pant for the wash liquid. Then using the original cap slightly resized for the new bottle. I added some small wires to the coil & the washer bottle for extra detail. Once I had bottle, the rest came together fairly easily. I noticed in some reference photos that the box behind the air intake filter should be chrome, so I covered it in some metal repair tape & it looks better than silver paint. I used the same tape on the body of the ignition coil, & painted the cap black. At the same time I dirtied down the bright orange filter with some dirty oil weathering paint. I also printed some of the labels from the DB5 forum (Thanks guys BigGrin )for the washer bottle, ignition coil & the VIN plate. Lastly I straightened some copper wire (see the before & after photo, this was a great forum tip) & made up some brake pipes to add some extra detail to the engine bay. I took a couple of extra pics with the engine placed in the bay, it gives a good idea of the finished piece - I hope you like.
