An excellent and solid start to your build Mark. Looking very detailed already, I like the look of this kit especially with the way that the ribbing has been moulded, very nice indeed.

Can't wait to see more of this build. Good luck in the competition Mark Cool ThumpUp

Many thanks for looking in and your comments. Didn’t know whether to start on the vessel first or the infantry. Thought it would look like I got more done with the landing craft first.LOL

Fitted most of the etched brass parts to the craft, just the machine guns to do but ill do them at a later stage. I have also placed some bolts in places on the hull section that were missing from the model. A lot of cutting and sanding and the EB had some exceptionally tiny parts and needed a lot of patience to fit.
All was then given two coats of primer paint. This will be left to harden and then some more sanding in places before I give the whole thing a base coat in dark sea grey.

More soon.

I have put the base coats on the landing craft, a combination of black and sea grey. This gives it a mottled effect and good for creating the shadow when applying the lighter grey with an air brush before chipping and weathering.

Here you can see I have started one of the two machine guns. The etched brass certainly makes a difference, although the scale of it was very difficult at times. The smallest piece was the trigger on the gun, which had to be bent in two, it was so small it was difficult to see it on the end of my precision tweezers. The gun barrel was bent around a size 12 micro drill piece. Still lots to do with the gun and should have a great effect and detail when finished.

More soon.

Those machine guns look the fantastic
Man he took his time in the sun
Had a dream to understand
A single grain of sand
He gave birth to poetry
But one day will cease to be
Greet the last light of the library...We were here!

Drool WOW Mark, this is looking really good! The etch really makes a difference on those machine guns Love
Well worth the effort, but the triggers must have been taxing?
