Very nice piece of work there, Mald!
Are those the standard brass cannons & are they screwed into cannon support beams inside?

Hi vik The brass cannons are modified ,I bought the standard dummys and turned the end of the barrel to make them more like the cannon barrel on the completed deck version. The dummy cannon has a tapered spigot ,I super glued them in to the 2mm hole this made them a tight fit . super glue was just added to make sure they dont fall out while i complete the rest of the build . The lower row of cannons i am making extension pieces to allow them to protrude further as these ports are much deeper then the upper layers . The attached photo shows the rear windows all hand made and fitted individually months of work but well worth the effort . Mald Maldbuild attached the following image(s):

Yes, those windows really kick butt if you ask me. They scream out "WORK" bigtime, vvveryy nice. Still a long way to go for me till i get to that part, I'll let it soak a while in the back of my head.
Ok - so no screw at the back of the dummy cannons.. hmm. Superglue is the way forward then i guess, yes.
So did you then paint them gold? They look so nice! I suppose the ones that you get are blackened pieces of metal?
Best regards, Vik

The cannons are Brass , Not the ones supplied with the kit. I meant you could buy them off the shelf , I then modified the end of the Barrel on a lathe all 96 that I bought . The windows are painted gold , All of the windows around the captains cabin where made seperatly then I painted them gold , Each frame was glued in place over clear Acetate , Then i continued to build up the rest of the framing . Very time taking but well worth the effort . Mald

Brass barrels are about £4.50 for 10, Keep a look out on E Bay I bought 95 for £15.00 inc p and p . I was expecting to spend around £60 . I made the decision Not to paint before i got the first issue , I wanted a Museum quality and I also wanted to see If I could achieve a good standard of build and not hide any mistakes with paint . I have to admit that i have made several pieces more than once . My way of thinking is Every piece has to be made right if i am not happy with it I start again , Once I am satisfied with it then it goes on to the model or into a storage box until it is needed. When it is finished and finally polished , I hope to stand back and be proud of what is my first wood build . Happy building mald

Nice deal you got yourself there, gratz! Going to keep an eye out there as well - perhaps history shall repeat itself . Happy to see there are also others that keep re-making the same part till it fits perfectly! Keep up the good work, and stand proud for a familyheritage piece provider once it's finished. Can't wait till then as well. Best regards Vik
