This is a really interesting project. I'm looking forward to seeing some of it as a physical model. Keep it coming.

OK wheel 3d tutorial here we go; Step one is I traced around the picture to get the outline of the wheel Step 2 Starting with the rim I made a second circle inside the first. Step 3 I made a surface between the 2 circles and then extruded the surface to make a solid rim. darbyvet attached the following image(s):

Step 4 starting on the hub.Made a surface from the smaller circle Step 5 extruded the surface to make a solid cylinder Step 6 made a surface from the out circle of the wheel hub Step 7 extruded the outer circle surface to make another cylinder Step 8 I rounded off the edge of the inner cylinder to mimic the axle darbyvet attached the following image(s):

Step 9 Making a wheel hub cap.I drew an arc between the ends of the hub. Step 10 I revolved the arc around the vertical line to make the hub cap step 11 I separated the hub cap from the hub. This way I can paint it a different color darbyvet attached the following image(s):

Step 12 making the wheel spokes.I drew a line between the hub and the rim Step 13 I drew some circles around the line to form the walls of the spoke Step14 I used the loft function to make a surface that was defined by the circles and the line. This was then made into a solid. Step15 Once I had one spoke I made 5 others using the polar array function. This duplicates an object around a central point. darbyvet attached the following image(s):

Step16 making the tire.I drew some reference lines to get the tire width Step17 I made some curves to make the tire bulge slightly. These curves will form the outline of the tire. Step18 I used the sweep 2 rail function to rotate the curve around the rim to make the tire. Step19 The final render of the wheel. It was quit e a few steps, but it only took me about 15 minutes. I will now make a mirror image of the wheel to make the other back wheel and make an axle Carl darbyvet attached the following image(s):

As a slight aside here - did you know Scalextric are soon to release Penelope Pitstop's car...? They have the rights to Wacky Races so who knows - many others will probably follow...

Thanks Guys,
@Garth Thanks.Rhino is an incredible program. It has a steep learning curve and you have to get your head around the NURBS stuff but it is very powerful.I am currently experimenting with applying textures to surfaces and then using extendrendermesh to make the textures part of the printable model. If I can get it to work it will be perfect for the boulder car in Wacky races and the Arkansas Chugalug wooden planks
@Roy. Oh I hope they do release the pink catcat. If they do I would buy one and scan it to make a bigger version to the same scale as the convert a car.it is quite difficult to model because of all the complex curves.
