That's looking great Roy. What shade of red are you using ? So much better than the bright red of the original build. Malc.

I did some Google research and there's huge disagreement about the original colour. Some historians said a darker maroon/red so I plumped for this...

This is probably my favourite out of all of your car builds to date Roy and I think you're doing a superb job with this restoration. Looking really good so far and I like the little tweaks you've made to various parts along the way.
Well done.

Once again, my grateful thanks to those looking in and the nice comments. A bit more here - the 4 leaf springs and both axles have been fitted. The rear drums are in place and the drive chains sorted, cleaned and put back. The handbrake and gear levers were both very broken and they took quite a lot of time to get the parts fixed back toger, painted and fitted along with the connecting rods and wires. When the wheels (the next bit) are done, they have a small plate on the hubs. Two for each wheel at the front. A total of six hub plates. However, one was missing. This was easily sorted by pressing one of the kit parts into Plasticine and casting the new one in resin. Once painted it's hard to tell which one is the replacement. Bonnet panels now also sorted and repainted... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

That's looking absolutely fantastic Roy. Thanks for the colour information. Can't wait to see what you've done with the wheels. Malc.

Many thanks chaps. Another bit on this old wreck. The wheels have been stripped of old paint and now repainted. Tyres scrubbed, lightly lemon oiled and put back on the rims and fitted to the car. It's all beginning to look more positive now. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Hi Roy, What lovely work so far, the engine is as sweet as a nut, and the seats have a coach built effect to them. What colour have you used? Any wash on the engine? Great stuff mate! Regards Glenn

Hello SR (You ought to add a name) The engine had a very light wash of black mixed with dark earth - all very watered down with white spirit. The seats were painted with Plastikote leather - an ancient can I have, almost run out and it seems they don't make it any more.
TBH - weathering on this one has been deliberately minimal. The whole idea of the project has been to rescue a total box of bin-fodder and make a presentable model from it.

I`m seriously amazed that you have got this far with this restoration, as having looked at the original box of Doo Doo I was sceptical. All credit to your skills and ingenuity on what you have achieved. WTG Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Many thanks you guys. As a bit of fun, here are two pictures I set up to look similar. First, the car as it arrived, second, as it is at this point... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Hi Roy The difference between the before and after picture is fantastic, it just shows that you can get a broken kit and build it like new. Mind you it’s down to your super model skills and having the knowledge that makes all the difference Roy. Did you have to scratch build or did you order missing or broken parts? Top drawer Roy Regards Glenn
