Looks fab Roy and think you're a brave boy using bronze paint. I've always found bronze and copper really difficult colours to get to look good and you've achieved a beautiful result.... Regards Alan

Many thanks to all once again. It appears this one is going to be a little bit more of a challenge than I thought. I'm now looking at stages 3 & 4 of the instructions and almost all of those parts are missing... Fortunately, I have another new untouched kit so I've nobbled the missing parts, made simple press-moulds in plasticine and cast the parts in resin. It does mean the steering very probably will be 'fixed' and the working suspension won't... Hopefully I'm not going to find many more missing parts. Also, some of the bits have been very badly but solidly glued together already. Taking them apart is a real non-starter so I'm resigned to cleaning those parts up as best as I can. All the body panels are now basically painted but there's a lot of fine white lining to add as well as the decals I've had to create myself... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Wow Roy! This is perfection, absolute perfection, that bronze colour is superb and going with the red. . The division between the two colours is pin sharp as always. You take a broken kit and turn it into a masterpiece, you are if I may say the Picasso of model cars.

Again, my thanks to those following this 'bodge'... I'm moving forwards but with each step I'm finding more and more parts are missing from the box of junk. I've now finally managed to get the chassis sitting on 4 wheels after a huge amount of 'fakery' and resin cast copying of parts from my other complete kit. The engine is coming together - even that has fake invented bits to cover for missing parts. I've started to add the white lining to the body. Let's see where it all ends up... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Many thanks Ken. I've completed the white lining and added two of the many decals I had to create and print. The body still has a slight twist in it but I'm hoping it will pull into shape when it's fixed to the floor/chassis... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Many thanks to those watching this tripe. As each day goes by, I'm more and more tempted just to bin this effort. With each step I'm finding more and more missing parts. Frustratingly, they are always 'important' parts but equally I suppose, they aren't always parts that will be scrutinised so at least I can 'scratch' so-so bits. It doesn't help with the build mojo though. I just want to dump this whole thing. However - a little spark of me keeps saying 'don't give up'. The UMPTEEN scratch and 'it will do' bits aren't always obvious in the pics but trust me, there are LOADS. Anyway, engine is now in the lower frame. IF it goes any further, you'll see more of the build - or at least so you know - I'll take a few pics of it all in the bin. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Thanks Ken. It's been a bit of a nightmare. I'm persevering with this one and fortunately, I can now see some light at the end of the tunnel. All the decals are on the body parts. Next will be to clear coat it before fitting the windows etc. The main 'tub' is pretty much completed. Hopefully I'll get this thing finished in the coming week... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Have never known you to give up on any model Roy so it must be bad if you're thinking of binning it. I think you'll hold onto your mojo and complete the job, no doubt it will be stunning as usual. She's certainly looking good from what I can see.... Stick with it m8..... Regards Alan

Thanks Alan. I've NEVER been so close to 'binning' a model as this one. It almost seems that EVERY next step in the instructions requires part 'X -2'... It is MISSING.
So - I need to invent something that isn't correct, but will do the job. TBH - It's now driving me nuts.
There seems to be no 'major' parts that are missing, but there is a never ending list of 'little' parts that I have to somehow work around. I haven't mentioned or listed the missing parts but seriously, they now run into the dozens.
I think I will finish this monster shortly but TBH - at EVERY step now, I just want to throw it to the wall.

Nice work Roy. We all like a challenge, and as much as you would like to throw it against a wall, you know you won’t, because it won’t beat you. Mark

Thanks for peeping in on this monstrosity Mark. Getting close to the end now. Front and rear lights are in. I did the 'chrome' light cover bezel using a Molotow chrome pen. Fiddly, but it looks ok. Rear side windows now also fitted. The chrome surrounds were done using Bare metal foil. Main windows and tailgate to fit and a few small details. Then the top is fitted to the bottom. With any luck, all completed shortly. Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

ALMOST done with this horrible lump. Just another bit of AAARRRGGGHHH.... This time though, it's Tamiya's fault. WHO in their right mind came up with the utterly stupid screen surround 'hot melt' idea??? The clear screens are around 1.5 - 2.mm smaller all round. The gap is filled with ready-made screen trim in a horrible black vinyl that doesn't even accept Cyano (Superglue) The instructions tell you to heat melt the trim in place from the inside of the body - which by the way, you just spent an age cleaning up and painting. Ok, the trim FINALLY went in place after half an hour of extremely careful melting using a fine screwdriver and the kitchen hob. NOT a task for the 'average' modeller or child - the kit was originally listed as suitable for children. REALLY??? Kitchen stoves and hot irons??? Anyway, the windows and trim are now in but I'll have to tidy up the body insides where the plastic has melt fixed. I have another brand new untouched kit in my stash. It will DEFINITELY be going on Ebay shortly. NO WAY do I ever want to build this kit again! roymattblack attached the following image(s):

I'm still struggling on with this one and even though it's virtually finished apart from a couple of little details and then fixing the upper to lower bits, I really can't be bothered with it. I've completely lost interest in it. I'll have to make the effort to get it done before long even if only to get it out of my hidey-hole... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Wow.. Hot melt window seals. No wonder you're fed up. 10 out of 10 for perseverance . Malc.

Nice work Roy, glad to see that you didn't just give up on ever finishing this monster, says a lot about your character and determination to see it to a conclusion.
Looking great now, so well done you!
