Thank you for a proper comment, Andy.BigGrin
I am very interested in your enhancement of the cable around the hull of the Yamato. They are beautiful. Although my Yamato was completed 5 years ago, I decide to make enhancement of the cable additionally and report it in the near future.Cool

Hi shipmates!
This time, I introduce making the aircrafts for the Yamato model. The Yamato had not only the Mitsubishi F1M (Allied reporting name "Pete") but also the Aichi E13A (Allied reporting name: "Jake"). But the DeAGOSTINI model only includes two Petes.Glare I made two Jakes for my model.BigGrin
#1 I bought two additional parts of Pete and remodeled them with plastic materials (right).
#2 Pile the putty on the model.
#3 Scratch the putty
#4 Paint in IJN green
#5 Attach the decal and enhancements on the model
#6 Put it on the Yamato with others.
Best Regards,
Yutaro

Hi Andy!
I hope seeing your Jakes on your Yamato someday.Laugh
This time, I introduce building 12m cutters on the stern deck of the Yamato. The model has neither Jakes nor cutters.Angry Since I knew there used to be cutters on the stern deck, I made cutters for my model.Cool
If I could re-do this work today, I am surely going to buy the cutter parts of the Akagi from DeAGOSTINI Japan. As writing here, I remember I have excessive motor launch parts of the Akagi now. I think the launch model can be used for my Yamato.

#1 Draw a rough plan of the cutter based on a 1/700 water line cutter part.
#2 Make it of residual plank
#3 Sanding it for making the surface smooth
#4 Paint in IJN gray.
#5 Attach hoods and stands
#6 Put them on the stern deck

Best Regards,
Yutaro

Hi shipmates!
This time, I introduce making the handrails of the Yamato. I tried making the handrails be seen like chains.
#1 The material of the chains were thin wires in coaxial cables
#2 Twist the wire
#3 Attach the twisted wire between two brass rods.
#4 Paint them in IJN gray.
#5 Completed handrails of my Yamato.
#6 Another part of the handrail.
Although it took me much time to make the handrails by using this method, I am satisfied with the result now.

Hi Andy
Thank you for your comment!BigGrin
When I attached the PIC #5 here, I remembered what should be payed attention to. The parts of boat davit were very easy to be broken. DeAGOSTINI Japan told us to warp the rods of the parts. Since I heard that many reports said the parts were broken when builders tried warping them, I did not warp them.Cool
Best Regards,
Yuraro

BigGrin Hi Yaturo
If you remember we have had several discusions on the Yamato's deck colour when she sailed for her final voyage, well i think i might have a resolution to the problem. After much investigation i came across this picture of the Mikasa during the replacment of her wooden deck using hinoki cypress wood as was used on the Yamato. The new wood is very much like fresh pine in colour but the weathered wood has taken on a grey/black overall weathered look,i understand this is the natural colour of hinoki after weathering and this is the deck colour i will try to reproduce on my Yamato.
As for the reports of the deck being painted black for her previous night operation i still feel that even after the paint was removed as we have disscused that the deck colour would match this picture.Your thoughts on this would be apreciated
regards

Hi Andy!
Thank you for sharing information. I'm very interested in this picture that shows us the effect of the weathering to the wood deck on the battle ships.Cool And I am also interested in your method how to get such a valuable picture.Confused
Since recent wooden deck parts in the stores are usually pine color, I think additional process for coloring is needed to express such a weathered wood deck.
Best Regards,
Yutaro

Hi Andy and shipmates!
I was told to refer to this website to know details of battle ship Yamato in several stage of her history. Although this page is written in Japanese, there are a lot of fine CG-draw-pictures. I expect they will help you understand.

I share this information.

Hi shipmates!
I have not posted a new reply to this diary for a long time.Blushing
At this time, I will introduce changing the cables around the hull of the Yamato. The original parts of the cables are simple 0.5mm brass wires. As I saw Andy's Yamato which was enhanced, I made up my mind to change the original cable for the parts of the Akagi. Because the cable parts of the Akagi's model are enhanced.

#1 These are cable parts of the Akagi in the issue 59. Although I bought 4 sets from the DeAGOSTINI Japan, 3 sets were enough to change all the cables around the hull of the Yamato.
#2 Paint the cables in IJN gray
#3 The original cable of the hull
#4 The original cable of the bow
#5 Remove the original cable parts.
#6 Attach the painted cable parts of the Akagi on the hull.
#7 I think new cables seem to be more realistic.
#8,#9 I took pictures of the Yamato and the Akagi at this chance..

I wish your Merry Christmas and have a happy new year!Laugh

Best Regards,
Yutaro

Hi All.
The Yamato in Okinawa operation had a small flag with 5 Chinese letters.
These letters were "非理法権天" Each letters has each meaning.
非 means injustice.
理 means theory.
法 means law.
権 means authority.
天 means providence.
Five characters are located in order of power. For example, 権 is stronger than 法.
This flag originated in Masashige KUSUNOKI. He was a General of the Imperial Guards Division in 14th century in Japan.
TAMIYA's 1/700 YAMATO kit contains the parts of this flag.Cool
