Hello Andy,
A very nice job indeed there my friend, well done! Looks like the etched Zimmerrit was a bit tricky to fold around the domed cover on the machine gun! The thing I love about all this etch stuff, which is quite new to me, is the finesse that it brings to a model and the way it turns a plastic model into something that looks very realistic. A prime example is things like the etched grille panels and covers on your model which when painted, just look fantastic and so real! All that Zimmerrit and stuff inspires me to maybe try a Tiger tank next!
Great stuff and well done again.

Thanks for the kind words Bernie there was a small amount of etch included with the kit [the brass coloured bits] i used these instead of the eduard parts but the oblong covers are the eduard parts as i liked the contrast of the two.The gun portal was a bit of a chalenge as the instructions say to roll the part in between a soft base and a steal ball bearing to obtain the profile needed but as im lacking the ball bearing im quite happy with the result i managed to get regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

cool build nice to see the etch looks good interested to see how it all comes together when you paint her. “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

Hello Andy,
Nice work there my friend, looking very busy now and the etch adds so much more detail to the look of the model, very nice. I will be following carefully in your footsteps with the task of attaching 'Zimmerit' now that I have a 'King Tiger' diary up and running on ModelSpace.
Can I ask what glue you used for attaching the Zimmerit? I would presume it was superglue, but if it was did you use thin and runny or the thicker 'gel' type and did you find any problems with using either type of superglue, if indeed that is what you used? Which would be best?
All the best
Bernie.

Hi Bernie i generaly use thin super glue but remember you need to line it up corectly as you only get one chance using this,PVA can also be used or Evo-sticks Serious glue as you have around 3 mins lining up time with the evo longer of course with Pva. Another tip for attaching very small pieces of etch is not to use glue but paint of the colour you intend to paint the model in.Hope this helps regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hello Andy,
Thanks very much for the help and advice, very much appreciated. I have both the thick and thin superglues so will see how I get on with those and may well try to get some of that EvoStik Serious glue tomorrow and try that as well to see which is best. Thanks also for the tip about small etched parts and using the paint to fix, very clever!
All the best,
Bernie.

Hi All havent posted for a while due to work comitments so thanks to any posts i might have missed/ not answered.Right just a few pics of the friul tracks made up against the dragon tracks from the kit, although the dragon tracks are very detailed i have to say the friuls give more weight, literaly and in detail to the model. The bottom friul track in the 1st pic is painted in Tamiya's XF-56 metalic grey ,as ussual all comments/ questions are welcome regards Andy arpurchase attached the following image(s): Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hello Andy,
Some nice work there in assembling the Friul tracks and very useful to have the comparison photos between the Friul and the kit tracks, so thanks for that. I have just ordered some Friul tracks for my King Tiger build, which should arrive by the end of the coming week, then I have the prospect of assembling some 120 links - hooray! How did you find it, tedious or enjoyable? Whichever, it must be worth it just for the extra realism?
Thanks for the update and the pics Andy, much appreciated and I look forward to seeing the tracks fitted.
All the best,
Bernie.

Hi Bernie the tracks are quite easy to put together takes time but its not tedious as long as you do a little preparation before hand. The horns on the inside of the tracks can have some flash on them i used one side of a pair of tweezers to unblock and trimed with a blade[push through from the outside edge and trim on the inside so no marks show] and the front edge where the mould nipple is,this is easliy removed with a razor blade/knife as the metal is quite soft.I also found the tracks went together easyer if a 0.5 mm drill is run through each individual piece, it mentions this in the instructions aswell.Cut the wire slightly oversize slide fully home then withdraw a little and trim off the excess push home and add a spot of super glue to the wire. in the instructions it says to glue the oversize wire in place and trim after its dry but i found its hard to get into the area to trim once the tracks are glued together. Also dont glue the last 4 links on either end untill you have fitted them to the model to allow for adjustment[add or remove links],hope this helps regards Andy PS When you drill the links remember they are suplied a left and right side format, the side facing outwards has not got a hole for the wire so dont drill this out so only the inside links will show the wire holes arpurchase attached the following image(s): Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .
