Hi, Ive just received the De Ag Victory paint kit. The paints are by Admiralty and are all 18ml, with 14 pots as follows:

3x Dull Black
1x Matt (Metal) Black (good for cannons)
1x Matt White
3x Yellow Ochre
1x Red Ochre
1x French Blue (perfect for grand cabin exterior)
1x Olive Green
1x Wood (Walnut)Brown
1x Gold/Brass
1x Copper

They come in a nice box and are all waterbased. These colours are used by Admiralty Paints on HMS Victory in Portsmouth, so their provenance makes them applicable to British warships of that period, including Surprise, so theres are all the colours required in one hit. Best of all, the whole lot costs £25 inc delivery from the De Ag shop. I have looked at another supplier, and the same item, with delivery, costs £37.50!!! So, theres a bargain. Be prepared to wait, they took three weeks to get to me, but well worth it!

You're a brave man working in that nice room. I work in my garage where I set up a small workshop as I make a big mess.

It looks really good so far. Get yourself as many reference materials as you can as you go along. The kit and instructions are NOT accurate, but it can be made to be accurate. But I'm sure you already know that from the other builders on this forum.

Are you building the historic version or movie version? If building the movie version, make sure you do the raised poop deck for better accuracy. And make sure the gunwales do not cap the cannon ports. Also. don't forget to curve the gunwales. You can see pics of it on my thread. Of course that's moot if building the historic version.

Keep up the good work!BigGrin
