Sorry to throw a spanner in the works, but if you look at the home page the prices are ex VAT, so if you add Vat it will run out to £199. Still a nice kit. There's always someone out there wanting to correct something.BigGrin .

They also say,you may be able to buy models on the site, but it may not be in stock.
I hate that, as i remember ordering parts for an R/C helicopter that showed in-stock but wasn't.They held all my other stock until it finally came in, and when they checked my order, someone had raided my items and they had to re-order other parts again. In the end it took 6 months for my parts to arrive; and this was from a UK company.

dont know if anybody has noticed but there is a fairly big omission on the bow, at the piont where the anchor chain is fed down from the deck over the side there should be a large hoop over the chain. its often excluded on smaller scales but should really be there on this scale Blink

see the wreck pick below to see what i am on about

A few selling it on eBay for under £199 including the £25 upgrade set.

Also a number of PE upgrade sets already on sale for it for such as the boats.

Hi Jase,
I've been reading a build diary by Gremlin56 on Model Shipwrights and they seem to be on his build. I didn't notice him saying that he had added them as extras.
My Big Box is due to arrive tomorrow, so I should know the answer thenBigGrin Drool BigGrin

Though almost the cost of the kit itself, though it seems like a good buy as it looks very comprehensive..

You're right Jase, the retainer hoops by the Anchor Cluses are indeed missing. Also, they are not shown on the large painting on the box top.
What a strange omission, what do Trumpeter think stops the Anchors sliding off the deck, as there's 20 metres of free chain before the windlass.

I wonder if this is rectified with any of the PE upgrades?

Hachette's 1/200 build created the U shape of the guider by bending a short lenghth of rectangular brass rod as per the image below..

It doesn't look like they are included in The KE DX upgrade set. But surely someone will offer them before too long. It would have to be a Resin part because of the shape, I was hoping that two of the 40 odd resin parts in the KE set would be them, but no luck.
To cheer me up, I have just found out that the coloured KE PE sheet has 'BISMARCK' in 0.5mm white lettering on the lifebelts and there are coloured cockpit details, with instruments etc, for the Arado 196 Float PlanesDrool
Is it this set you bought?

http://www.bnamodelworld...k-set-for-trumpeter-kit
That's the one.ThumpUp
It also replaces a lot of the PE supplied by Trumpeter as there are issues with it being extremely difficult to work with, too soft and brittle. At least that's what I hear, no experience with it personally. I see on various forums that the 'Rivet Counters' are getting well truly stuck into this one.

I'm surprised that considering the number of Bismarckkits there are out there, that Trumpeter overlooked some glaring omissions at this scale such as has already been mentioned.

There are some better images of the set on the MK1 site..

Just wanted to share a message i got from White Ensign Models on face book in reply to a question about etch upgrades.

"Hi Jason, Yes we will. But instead of one huge set, Peter Hall is working on developing a series of smaller sets that will allow modellers to pick and choose how much detail they want"

sounds good for managing budgets too!!BigGrin

I will ask about the anchor retainersCool

I have suggest to white ensign that some resin ones would be a great idea, I will see what they say BigGrin

I know what I'd do, oh hang on I've already done itBlushing
Also I've just counted the bits (sad but true) in the kit as I received it and there are 1923 of them. I've told myself that I couldn't start it until I finish the x-section, so going through the boxes & counting was a poor substitute.
