Hello Jase, thanks for looking in. The kit in its base for is a bit of a mix up, and I think Hachette could have researched it a bit more!! As you can see it has the early muzzle brake and 700mm idlers, also the shovel on the front plate, yet it has late cupola and late tracks with ice cleats and steel wheels. I am going to change parts and modify the build to represent a late June '44' Tiger. Fingers crossed it should come out ok!!LOL BigGrin

Yes i had noticed the weld seam for the late cupola which is why i thought late production not the first manufacturer to get the reserch wrong I remember Tamiya making a right dogs dinner of the Prche turret King tiger a few years agoMellow

Hello Jase, This is not the first and certainly wont be the last kit thats been poorly researched, but then it does give is modelers something to do and moan about!!LOL LOL BigGrin
Hi Kev and thanks for your kind comments!! I was quite pleased with my weld seam, its actually harder in a bigger scale as it is easier to see, and stands out when its wrong!!LOL LOL LOL LOL BigGrin BigGrin

I have jumped forward a little as this is a BIG fault with the kit and is going to need some work to bring it round!!Cursing
The breach block is terrible and needs the internals scratch building to bring it up to the standard this kit needs, and in such a large scale, if left, would stand out like a sore thumb!!!Blink BigGrin

For anyone building this partwork, all I can say is dry fit everything at least twice!!! I have had to take a file and sandpaper to the inner turret panels to adjust them to allow the complete turret sides to meet and fit the turret roof properly, its not a major job if its done now and won't damage your paint work. and it makes all the difference when its done!!BigGrin BigGrin

Very sound advice Daran and I love the photos, especially the first one - it doesn't feel like you are inside a tank turret more like being inside 'The Millenium Falcon' or the 'Starship Enterprise' looking through the round window into outer space!! Very strange, LOL!! Blink Confused LOL LOL

Did you use your new light tent for the photos?

Breech block bashing is now under way!! I have cut in a slot for the recoil slide, and started the mods on the basket cradle. I have leveled the bottom of the breach with plasticard, and started to fill the gaps and add weld seams, a bit scruffy now, but when its all dried overnight I can start sanding and shaping.BigGrin BigGrin

Hi Nem,

Looking great so far.

Can I ask where you bought the turned barrel from? Want to get hold of one myself.

The Breech! Crying Couldn't be worse if they had tried!

I'm on my second attempt of sorting it now. Working on the block itself, trying to make it look a little more realistic.

Attached a pic of work in progress, hope you don't mind, still needs triming up & lots of filler but would be greatful of your comments.

Looking forward to following your progress.

Wilfy
