BigGrin Hi All
Some more progress, the received ribs have been painted and fitted to there places and the inner braces added to rib 10, a tip here for storage of the short front rib 7 is to reverse it and place in the front spar slot found between ribs 6 and 7.
I have been polishing the propelor blades and spinner parts in preparation for painting and a coat of satin varnish, to do this I started with Brasso silver polish wadding [this is formulated for silver and aluminium and is not as abrasive as normal Brasso]then used micromesh to achieve the final shine before it will be finishing off with laquer.
The cylinder heads have been assembled and the main engine body pieces matched up but at the moment these are only dry fitted as there is quite a bit of work needed here.
regards

Your getting a really nice finish on the paintwork Andy. have you decided to display some of it frame exposed?

BigGrin Hi Jase
Thanks for your comments, im toying with a couple of idea's at the moment skin all the upper wing surfaces and leave exposed one wing underside to view the internals. Warty also gave an idea to use A4 size clear acetate film, which got me thinking as there is a r/c model covering that is heat shrink and comes in clear also, he also suggested that spraying the film so it looks like its the skin is thinning out to expose the innards is another way to go.
I do like the idea of the film though as it stops the ingress of dust and still shows off the internal structure

BigGrin Hi All
More progress , 5 more cylinder heads put together and the machine gun parts prepared for assembly. The seven ribs with this pack have all had there trusses attached and are now ready for painting. I have also been experimenting with the cylinder heads and engine casing i have found using a brass wire brush from my rotary tool gives a nice satiny shine to the metal, the pics dont realy show the difference but its quite obviuos in real life
More soon

Your building looks going well. I guess making the construction of ribs and the engine is very interesting work.

BigGrin Hi All
Bit more done the final rib has been fitted on the painted wing and the folding wingtip made up with its end piece I have added the distributor ring.
The second wing is now underway but this is not being painted as it will be skinned.
When the fuselage bulkhead is made up from the 3 pieces provided the instructions recommend using chop sticks cut down to the correct diameter, I found the paint brushes do the job equally as well.
Lots of prepainting coming up as the cockpit goes together
More soon
