Hi Gandale I want to try and make it more than it is some led lighting, and where you can see the open space to try and make it authentic as possible.I will probably end up picking people's brains (zombie mode ). Regards steve when I had an MRI scan all they found was an IOU instead of a brain

Hi everyone I have been to the library and found a book on model ships Building The Wooden Fighting Ship by James Dodds & James Moore. The only problem was they had nothing on east Indiaman ships, so I had to borrow one on a 74 gun ship. I copied a picture from the book on mid ship frames, and then I copied it onto a picture of the rib from issue 3. I think a lot of the detail would be lost under the decking and ideas? Hi Steve You need some careful planing here if you wish to procead down this avenue, such as the exposed/visible open areas along the side of the hull could have the true build sequences you propose but also remember that their would be the ribs to include too so perhaps a mix of both in the open area's. Anything that is enclosed by planking will be a wast of effort apart from the satisfaction you know its there if you do add it. Hope this helps in your endevours regards Andy PS Just an idea but perhaps looking at some x section builds like the Victory an Santisima Trinidad builds on here and others that can be found at CMB will help you in your planing Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi arpurchase ,Karl and silent_running Thank you for all of your replies. I don't want to go down the lane with wasting time and effort, on the area's that you can not see, but I would like to do something with the space inbetween the ships ribs. I am not sure if a mixture of one half of the open space left open, and the other side filled inbetween the ribs(futtocks)with a filling frame. I don't want to try and go all out on my first model ship, not knowing what I am yet capable of achieving. when I had an MRI scan all they found was an IOU instead of a brain

Hi everyone been a while since I posted on the pearl I got issues 4-7 in the post last week so here is the latest picture please could anyone tell me if I need to infill the bow section with balsa wood Regards Steve when I had an MRI scan all they found was an IOU instead of a brain

Coming along nicely Steve.... On the subject of balsa infills, you don't have to use them but they do make life easier when it comes to planking..... .. If you feel you are confident enough to plank without them then don't put them in..... My first build, the SOTS, I used balsa infills throughout and it certainly helped me grow in confidence however, for the Titanic I have done without and that is working out just fine... Think the answer is simply do what you feel comfortable with..... .. Regards Alan

Hi Steve, needing a bit of your expertise here, On Issue 8 and I have to bevel the bow but the section 15s on issue 4 sit we'll bellow the bulkheads, as you can see on your last post, (between the 2nd and 3rd bulkhead back looking from the front) Do these section 15s need to be sanded to follow the contours of the bulkheads or will they sit proud. I am a complete novice with wooden ship building so any advice will be much appreciated Many thanks Happy Modelling
