Hi All, Change of Title to "Battle of Denmark Straits". Prefer this as a banner "Title" for the finished collection. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Picking up new work table today, then got to clear some serious space. I`m waiting delivery of eight kits, two detail packs and still got £175 worth of etch to purchase and a few resin parts. But, just to get you drooling a bit more, will post a pic of all the kits when delivered. Happy Building Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Getting planning permission for an extension on a first floor flat takes some time. But, solution is that one wall of my lounge is 20 feet long It`s a big flat. Hi All, Well here we go. I now have the collection of the 14 kits I want to make up as, "The Battle of Denmark Straits" First: Bismark, Prinz Eugen, KGV and Hood Pic 1 Then: Victorious (from the optional kit of the Illustrious)Pic 2 Then: Ark Royal, Prince of Wales and Renown. Pic 3 Last of the ships: Suffolk, Cossack, Zulu and Rodney. Pic 4 Finally: Fairey Swordfish and Fairey Fulmar.Pic 5 I have etch for: Bismark Prinz Eugen KGV Hood Swordfish Fulmar Can source etch for: Suffolk Rodney Victorious Zulu Ark Royal Renown Still looking for etch for: Prince of Wales Cossack So here`s the crack - This question is for Steve-o, You wanted it started, so you get to choose from the kits that I have etch for and will buy the paint for on Monday (when next on a day off) as to which kit gets started first. So Steve let me know by Sunday where to start. Happy Building Regards delboy271155 (Derek) delboy271155 attached the following image(s): COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

As one kit is "Heller" and the other "MPM", not sure what the conversions will be and what`s available. So, only Monday will tell But, you never know, might find them all You might get both Watch this space Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Steve Hi Steve, Having got this lot together, just hope I can do these kits justice. Only time will tell, when I get back into plastic after a long gap and never having touched etch, it should be fun (of sorts ) Thanks for the link, will give it a try. Del, you are certainly brave attempting etch at this scale for a first time, best of luck to you Even 1/35 scale drives me nuts and more ends up lost forever in the carpet than on the model One thing I have learnt about etch is there is no need to use it all just because you have it, if you think the kit detail is good enough then ditch the etch, just use it where there is definite improvement. Hi Del I can only agree with Steve about the etch, company's that make it supply stuff that is so small in some scales its lost in the paint so use what makes a difference and looks right but its called added value I guess. Also a good etch bender may be useful like these here http://thesmallshop.com/..._page=index&cPath=2
Not a cheap tool but last a life time. With the scale of the ships you are building you will need to plan your etch application as well, this may sound hard but its quite simple work from the centre outwards, this stops you knocking off what's already been put in place. Now we come to the glue used, Superglue with a fine applicator is ok but leaves no room for movement, some people use pva too which gives a little more time but with really small parts, using the paint to adhere it is also a good idea. Just some thoughts regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi All Steve and Andy, firstly many thanks for the info and encouragement. Have been to the REAL shop today and have acquired the paint required for the "Bismark", hence the minor title change I will still have to get an etch bending kit, but this project will be fitted in between the Sots (my main build) so will not be rushed. Kit preview to follow soon with the etch. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

ian smith wrote:Hi Derek. A very choice of Ships. Will be a very nice display when you have finished. look forward to seeing your progress Ian Hi Ian, Firstly, many thanks for looking in Now as for progress, I will have an etch tool delivered in the next couple of days. I went for the small shop 5.5 etch bending tool, not cheap, but looks like the best available for all the etch I will have to deal with for this collection. So, here we go (some may say at last , but this has taken some collecting). As stated recently, here is the review of the "Bismark" kit plus etch. The moulding looks very good, except for some spread from the edge of the deck section, but I don`t think there is anything to cause any issues. Pics 1+2, not too close or there would be too many pics and the last one is the etch. (more on that later in the post). Now, one pic shows the ships rails. They will have to go and be replaced by the etch (far superior). Next, pic 3 is the main hull and deck pieces. If you look close you can see the spread in the deck moulding, but as said before I don`t think there is any issue to be dealt with here. To end, the etch. Pic 4. I don`t think this is by any way the biggest etch set available for this kit, but, with the amount of kits I`m dealing with in this collection, cost has it`s limitations. So, comments, ideas and/or advise please post Regards delboy271155 (Derek) delboy271155 attached the following image(s): COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

stevie_o wrote:Is it time for the "sticking together with glue bit yet" Steve Ok Steve, I "PROMISE" to stick the hull halves together, "JUST FOR YOU" this weekend, but that`s in between taking wifey to the Lincolnshire Lancaster Museum. (Oh yes, a major Dio, to be built into a coffee table) 1:72 scale. I think the statement is "Watch this space" Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"
