ISSUE 46 Hi Team, received this weeks issue today, its all about how to finish the capstan, seems to me we should be doing more important things like finishing the Hull!!! However, where the magazine shows the position of the Capstan, it appears to me the crew would not be able to get round to pivot the Capstan, maybe I am missing something(it would`nt be the first time )your comments would be appreciated MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

Hi mwg, yes i thought so aswell, even the magazine states how awkward it would have been to use and after looking up an official tour in 3d of the original it does look correct. the only difference is where we have a raised sylight and companion way, the original seems to have the companionway and grating, also the locker infront of the wheel seems to be to either side of the wheel on the web view. alan http://www.google.co.uk/...vdX-aG3AfDPOr1CMkOvLPbvwcurrent builds

From my recolection of a visit to the replica the Hand Spikes clear both the Skylight and the Companion Capping ...the Capstan which had a whelps chocks a pawl type ratchet system could be operated by not moving with the capstan spikes but remaing in place and passing them from hand to hand...ummm not sure if that sounds right but thats how it was explained to me....I have drawings if required.... hi trotsky, yes it does mention that a ratchet system had to be employed because of the tightness of space, but wouldnt like to have to use this in the kind of weather they encountered or evan what we are experiencing outside my house just now ( gusts of 60 mph and constant 39mph) current builds

ISSUE 46 Hi Team I have stained the 5mm x 2mm I require to fit the pieces to the Capstan, I did not use a plank that comes with the build because the grain is not tight enough and does not take the stain so well, I used a plank left over from the Victory :- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

ISSUE 47 THE STERN As you all know I have not used the stern formers from eaglemoss I preferred to use balsa wood to form the Bow as well as the Stern. this enabled me to get a shape on the stern more authentic to the drawings (which has been born out by the ANATOMY OF THE SHIP)this shape is broader where the stern planks will be fitted. I have now planked the stern as per the instructions, but I will be enlarging the Helmport on the Hull more in keeping with the drawings when the adhesive is cured. here are the photos comments are welcome :- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.
