Derek, This is a great build Derek, there should be more build diaries for this type of aircraft, if you take your time it will all go together with out problems. The most demanding part for me is fitting the metal plates but the most stimulating. Looking forward to seeing your DC3 build Derek and I know you will do it the justice it deserves. Regards Trev. UPDATE:SPITFIRE. 050715. UNDERCARRIAGE ASSEMBLEY. In Brief, I found this section went together very well, I did have to file the Strut mounting blocks to fit into the wood housing but that was all. I chose red for the Strut blocks and black for the suspension legs. I found drilling the a shallow 2mm hole in the wheel fairings ok but take care as the material is very soft, with to much pressure you can slip, so the best bet is to support the fairing or use a bench drill. I then fixed the wheels and aligning the holes with the with the fairings and tighten all 4 screws, then assemble and placed in one piece back into the landing gear housing applied glue to the red struts and glued in place. There should be a gap of 130mm between fairing edges, I will in need adjust when fitting landing gear servers. Undercarriage Assemble. This shows Strut Mounting Blocks/Suspension leg test fitted not glued. Wheel Fairings ready to be assembled. This picture shows the Undercarriage Assemble complete. Undercarriage now in place. Final movement check there should be a gap between the Fairing edges of 130mm,this will be checked when I join both wing together and fit servers. More soon thank you for your time. Regards Trev. Lovely work as always Trev, she's really starting to look the part now and I bet you can't wait to start on the electrics as that will suddenly bring it all to life? Love the little red parts too, adds a nice accent to the undercarriage bays and certainly attracts the eye.
Congrats on reaching 1000 posts as well mate and a very well deserved purple medal.
Kev
