I've been doing the boats when I get stuck (read: bored) planking the hull of the ship. Find them to be a great little mojo booster when you're a little bit behind. Have one and a half done now. You should have no problem getting through them in a week or so Garth.

I found doing the launch build easier than the main build. Also they are very enjoyable to do. You'll be perfectly fine building them with the way you have already produced a masterpiece in the main ship. Chris On the bench 1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.

Garth That really is a stunning build and you should be somproud of this brilliant model you have built. The little boats do look awkward but i am sure you will turn out a good job on these as well. One recommendation is thstvwere you can put a bit more pressure on the larger parts of the ship these little boats need a lighter touch. Hope they go together really well for you. Happy Modelling

Hi All, Finally got some momentum on the small boats. Completed the Launch and finished the planking on the Cutter, Pinnace and Barge. I think that the my reluctance with the small boats is largly due to the fact that I only have around 8 hours a month to spend on modeling. From around Issue 103, things have been moving at pace. As the sails have been going up and the rigging becoming ever more complex (visually), it feels that things have been building up to a grand finale. … and then hours and hours taken up on the small boats… With little to show. I have’nt enjoyed building them and unfortunatly it shows, hence, no macro pics here. (No offence to the models themselves – they are superb) On a happier note, the last pic is of a Christmas presient from my uncle. A set of hand made planes and spoke shaves made by his wifes uncle. Thanks uncle Boo. Kind regards, Garth Garth attached the following image(s): "Measure twice, cut once!!!" Finished!!! HMS Victory, Current build: Black Pearl. On hold: Bismarck, Golden Hind, Flying Scotsman, Victory Cross Section, SOTS, Tiger 1. Wish list: USS Constitution.
