SECOND SHEATHING THE HULL I decided to drill the hole for the Rudder at this stage, changing the angle and position slightly of the opening and fitting a wooden frame more in keeping around the opening. I used a 10mm bit with a power drill,I felt because it was heavier it would give me more control, which it did:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

SECOND SHEATHING THE HULL Now I fitted the planks to the transom covering the rudder hole (Ican cut that out later) very pleased with the result, as I built this area 8mm wider from info in the book, I feel it looks better. All photos from now on will include the longboat in the shot, as I feel it is an integral part of the build. I then fitted the mid planking to the hull,The planks have been fitted over the joins of the first planking, here is the result:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

SECOND SHEATHING THE HULL Hi Team not alot to show you this time. I have applied three more rows of planking, I love the colour I have achieved with the Rowney Acrylic ink. The coating of ink shows the grain in the wood to its best in my opinion, I will use ink throughout this build, and I may use it on the Victory and other builds, I will just have to see how it goes!! Questions and comments welcome, please note the longboat alongside, I soaked the Rubbing strakes again to get a better fit. Regards Mike MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

Hi Mike, lovely work, I was in Sydney for my honeymoon (two years ago), was very disappointed to visit the replica to find that she was closed for repairs but got to walk around her, personally I love historic ships, one of the reasons I have (just recently) started making wooden ships,
