Hi All Finally getting back on track with this build, I have decided to finish the upper sides then add the main deck and plank it, once the deck is on I will add the screws and rudders and paint the lower hull then all that is left is the deck furniture and aircraft. All the side platforms have now been added along with the guns. Some of the side deck furniture has been added along with some of the railings but lots more to add here. The forward hanger is now fixed in place and I am adding the supports and chains to the bow area. Another decision was to decide to use the supplied deck parts or to use something else so I have decided to make a one piece deck from 3 mm perspex and seal the inner hull area off so lots of aircraft on the decks now. the last pi shows the deck marked out ready for cutting out. More soon Andy arpurchase attached the following image(s): Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Your doing a great job Andy. She looks awesome. I did get the first 2 months of this build but decided to stop as funds wouldnt stretch at the time. Wish I had built it now. But then wouldnt have the Hood to do. On the bench 1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.

Hi All Thanks for looking in Steve,Dave,Magpie,Hans, Tiger and Alemo, alen ,Nem and your comments, @ Alemo, the perspex sheet will need to be roughed up on both sides and undercoated so that the paint and wood deck will stick to it and to the hull. @ Tigerace, the supplied deck parts are of 7 sheets of 3 mm ply that have a covering of paper to look like wood. This deck is not fixed to the hull but is sitting on the hangar area or floating upon it, the front bow and stern decks are the only ones fixed and I had a feeling that these central 5 parts could or may over time with the issue's of sunny weather, rainy days and central heating warp or twist.I am not saying they will warp but I have opted for what I see is a good compromise. Also the hangars are a little too bare for my liking as there should be workshop/repair areas and such like on show, although they could be scratch built if wanted but getting them right would be impossible as no plans of the ship exist being destroyed when the Japanese surrendered. The best drawings/blueprints available are done by Miyuki-kai [I have a set] but only show the outside of the ship. I never liked the paper decks and decided to plank them with 0.5 x 2 mm lime strip. This just left me with deciding what to use instead for the deck, you could just stick the supplied decks in place but I finally chose the perspex. This will mean the deck will be planked from bow to stern with only the lifts and deck fittings breaking it up as it would have looked in real life. I will say this is the way I have decided to build my Akagi and everyone will have there own idea's for how they will finish there own model. More soon. Hi the perspex is 3mm thick the same as the deck parts provided, I ordered mine on line from the the plastic people 3 x 800 x 200 splash back sheet but there charging silly prices now with minimum order extra's but im sure if you search there are other places that can supply it. Hope this helps Regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .
