Hi Alan & Tony, Thank you for looking in and for the kind words. @ Tony, thanks for the mention of 3D printing & CNC machining. The industry has progressed in leaps-and-bounds and it is becoming affordable to own your own machines. A small CNC machine casts about US$250.00 and are quite easy to use. Unfortunately for me, here in the good old RSA, with a 15:1 exchange rate, I'll have to wait for something drastic to happen before I can afford my own machines. Fortunately, Mark, the owner of our company lets me use our machines for all my add-ons. Kind regards, Garth "Measure twice, cut once!!!" Finished!!! HMS Victory, Current build: Black Pearl. On hold: Bismarck, Golden Hind, Flying Scotsman, Victory Cross Section, SOTS, Tiger 1. Wish list: USS Constitution.

Hi Garth, very nice work with the 3D printing and cutting. Your right about the exchange rate here . Great that you get access to some machines. Malc.

Hi All, We’re still not in the garage. As my daughter ‘helps’ me on every build session now, it’s still a bit cold to work in the garage. Fortunately, we’re heading into Spring over here, so we’ve moved out of the bedroom and onto the veranda. Having said that, apologies for the cluttered background in my pics – it’s a bit of a trade-off, wider aperture with less in focus, but background totally blurred, or, smaller aperture but more in focus. I think that if I’m going to be doing more work here, I’ll have to setup some sort of backdrop. F.Y.I, I’m not following the issues in any specific order anymore. My intention is to complete all the assembly and painting on the hull before I move on to the masts, sails and rigging. For this update I assembled and painted the handrails. Kind regards, Garth Garth attached the following image(s): "Measure twice, cut once!!!" Finished!!! HMS Victory, Current build: Black Pearl. Hi All, Just a short update today. Fitted the Chainwales, the Cutwiter and the bow detail. Note that the instructions indicate that you mark the positions of the supports. Unfortunately, the scale is incorrect – so I just eyeballed the placement. I’m sure it’ll be fine. Kind regards, Garth Garth attached the following image(s): "Measure twice, cut once!!!" Finished!!! Hi All, Fitted the mouldings around the stern. It’s a pity that the stern detail is not that accurate. They have spent so much time detailing the interior, e.g. the lanterns, barrels etc. But the stern detail is indicative – it does not come close to the actual ship!!! I have seen on some forums that people have bought Revell’s model and used their stern detail bits. I’ve looked on the web for some 3D models, but no luck there. Any ideas welcome here. It’s not that big of a train smash if I use the kit parts. Drilled & pinned some of the castings. I added some detail to the gallery roof. Raided the paper punch & glued the discs overlapping each other. Once done I ran some white glue over everything with my finger. I hope that the detail will pop with the dry brushing. I have seen this on some forums & I really like the look – holding thumbs. Kind regards, Garth Garth attached the following image(s): "Measure twice, cut once!!!" Finished!!!
