Thanks for commenting Hans.... Just going at a nice pace but still think it will be another 2 issues before lover hull is finally covered.... have to say am a little apprehensive when it comes to cutting out of the gun ports, slightly out on measurements and it is likely to show..Glare Glare ... Thoroughly enjoying the experience though....Cool Cool

Hi Derek, they're not fish.... more like whales.... LOL LOL .. My tank in the background is a 6ft, 500 ltr tropical community tank with live plants..... One day there will be a model ship sitting on top of her..... Keep your fingers away from those whales of yours..... you need them for your planking....LOL LOL ..Tks m8..

Thank you for your very kind comments Robin.... loving the build... Have decided to take the plunge and just crack on this weekend with getting the lower hull planked.... That gives me time before issue 30 arrives to play with and practice with some of my new toys... Unimat, airbursh etc..... More tomorrow I hope.....Mellow Mellow

BigGrin Hi Alan
When I was on the planking on hulls of the Yamato and Akagi I found that using off cuts and any left over planks could take you further along so if you have the wood available use it after all it will be covered over by the next set of planks

Hi Andy, was thinking the same thing. Have plenty of offcuts as I throw nothing away but at the same time I have plenty of full strakes as I have only had 2 snap on me during the process... Am cracking on to finish the lower hull, hopefully tomorrow sometime....Cool Cool

Well tonight I finally finished planking the lower hull and have to say, considering this is my very first attempt at planking I am really delighted with the way it has turned out... The marks you see are not gaps in the planking they are actually pencil marks which will disappear when I get round to sanding.... Sanding the hull should finish her off nicely with not a lot of filler needed..... Will now be doing some expermentation while waiting for issue 30 to appear... happy building all....

Regards

Alan
