Very nice indeed Steve, you should be very proud of what you've achieved with this kit - well done!!

Making a slow but careful start. I noticed that the tabs on the upper nose cone part don't make contact with the lower section. Shown below. There really is no point in applying glue as instructions detail. Am I missing something here? The two parts are aligned correctly. Has anyone else noticed this? Not complaining, just commenting. Part 2 complete Straight forward so far and quality parts to work with. (it's not really a pink version, I must use the flash next time.)RM1 attached the following image(s):

A very nice start Malc and I'm sure you'll do as fantastic a job with this as you've done with all of your other McLaren builds - well done!!

The nose cone attachment brackets look like they were folded sheet metal on the real car so I've tried to create that appearance by masking a thin edge and brushing matt black.RM1 attached the following image(s):

There's some great detailing ideas in the builds that have been posted in the modelspace forum. I used a 1,2mm drill in a pin vice to remove the paint in the holes around the brake disc. Not sure if the hole should go right through so haven't gone too deep. RM1 attached the following image(s):

Going by the pictures I have seen they go all the way through.

Thanks for looking in and the info'. I'm checking a few pictures and I all I can see is a blind hole. Will keep searching. Malc.

I've got some carbon look decals from Autograph so I made a ( nervous ) start by spraying the nose cone a very light coat of Silver. Added the decals and finished with a light spray of smoke. RM1 attached the following image(s):

Nicely made parts on the engine block. I sprayed the clutch plates metallic gold. They won't be seen but I thought the contrast looked good. RM1 attached the following image(s):
