Well done Jim, great job with planking. I bet you've had enough of shaping, tapering, bending, snapping, and trying it all over again Keep up great work

Jim. A nice build you have there, and the milestone has been reached, well it was for me when i finally finished planking the hull, only onwards and upward from now. Keep up the good work and keep those pics coming.

Thanks for all the possitive feedback guys. It was a long old job but worth it. Makes one feel very proud, just sitting back looking at the ship. So imagine what it will be like when it is finished!!!! The only tool I used to plank the whole hull was the plank benders enclosed in the toolbox. They worked a treat. The only thing in there which worked. I didnt have to resort to curling tongues, soldering irons, etc. Just pins, and a dab of really strong superglue at the end of each plank to keep it in place while the wood glue dried. So I am very pleased. Now onto the sanding. Looking forward to doing something different for a while. Thanks again everyone. Jim

Hi Jim, looking very good. I'm also using the enclosed plank-bender - glad to hear that it will do the job. How did you do the compound curves?

Hi Stefan, They werent too hard. I just made sure I really gave the planks a good work over with the plank benders. Also, do not underestimate the power of superglue. I always put some at the end of the plank to hold them im position while the wood glue dries. Finally, I also made sure I didnt soak the wood for too long, cos it made the planks kind of brittle.
Good luck with it all
Jim

So you soak the planks for a couple of minutes in hot water before "cutting" them with the bender?
