Thanks chaps. The engine is now in, and some of the wiring and plumbing has been connected. Lots more to add, but the front 'picture frame' needs to go on next. If anyone wants to know anything, please ask. Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

I know scratch stuff isn't everyone's cup of tea, but hopefully my waffle will be helpful in other areas of peoples work. I've now sorted the front 'picture frame' as it's known. Made from brass section and sheet. No - I can't solder, it's all Araldite. I've also added umpteen little linkage parts and fittings around the carbs and manifold. Think I should've gone to Specsavers. Front upper and lower 'A' arms next, then the uprights, shocks, and test out some wheels... Please, please - any questions, thoughts, insults, whatever - just ask. Roy roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Another update for those following. I've built up the front 'A' arms in brass tube filled with a copper core and fitted them using a bit of artistic licence/jiggery-pokery. They are correct in shape etc, but the lower arms have been made up so as to be joined across the width of the chassis to form a kind of cradle. This is because the actual model is surprisingly heavy and I don't want the front end collapsing over a period of time. Once complete, the cradle won't be visible. I've cast the front tyres and flattened the bottoms - it gives the finished car a bit of visual weight. Next, the uprights and shocks and then make up a pair of wire wheels. Roy. Many thanks Ken. Nice to know someone is following my waffle. Rear wheels are now sorted but not yet fitted. It's actually quite fiddly to work out where to fit them in relation to the ground/body. I flatten my tyres to give the model some imaginary weight - even though it's flippin' heavy anyway... The car is supported on some small matt black blocks underneath so it doesn't collapse in the distant future. Getting the wheels and rear axles and suspension to marry up correctly is time consuming. It'll get there. Side exhaust now cast, painted and in place. Believe it or not, the end is in sight. A lot of what I'm doing here is going to be transferred to the DeAg E Type when I start it. PLEASE...!!! As I keep on saying, ANY questions, just ask. I WANT to help! Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Please - don't anyone be 'in awe'... All you guys could do this. Only a few years ago I had never scratch built anything. It really isn't rocket science.
I learned to make master parts, rubber moulds, cast in resin - everything I do now. You could all do the same. Please just ask if you're tempted. I'd love to help.
How about starting with the DeAg E Type...?
Mine will have a correct full engine, fully plumbed and wired, probably a triple Webber carb setup, possibly different colour leather trim, maybe different body colour.
Tempted - ? I'd love to help.
I'll be posting a build thread - 'E Type 'extra'.
It's all fun.
Roy.

There's light at the end of the tunnel, as they say. I'm thinking this one will be complete by around the end of March. Rear diff, axles and links are all in and the rear wheels are fitted. Moving to the front bonnet support frame now and then the rads will be made. After that there is the windscreens (2 of them...) and front wheels plus assorted detail parts. On we go. its not just the basics of the casting and the like Roy what stands out to me is how brilliant it all looks and in scale. If I tried anything like that I am sure its would not look at all right which is why its a treat to see your fantastic models taking shape. Happy Modelling

Many thanks you guys who are reading/watching my waffle. The 'Big C' is getting there. The front wheels are now on, next are the water and oil rads plus pipes/wiring etc. After that, the carb air box, then the two screens and eventually, rear lights, bonnet fixings and number roundels etc. There will then be all kinds of 'extra's such as bits of wiring, steering wheel, gear lever - etc etc etc... The end of the tunnel is in sight. Next project...? Maybe another lightweight E Type roadster... File Attachment(s): roymattblack attached the following image(s):
