Morning Fellow Modellers, Just a quick update on the HAHA van In the attached photo I have fitted rubber mats [EPDM self adhesive foam] to the driving and passenger foot wells. The chassis is fitted to the body by a locating tab at the rear and then a self tapping screw is used to secure the front. I'm not a fan of self tapping screws on plastic as they tend to tear the material making the removal and refitting gradually degrade the thread. To remedy this I drilled and tapped an M3 thread so a countersunk bolt could be used making it easier to tighten and untighten as I constantly test fit the pieces. When test fitting the rear wheels they inset into the wheel arch by a large amount and not really giving a realistic appearance. So I made some spacers so that I could lower the chassis away from the body and thus lower the wheels away from the arches. Donkeys years ago I had one of these vans as a company car - training to be a QS for a building company although I gave it up due to being bored stiff.
My little van was camel over orange, the company colours.
It was great fun and surprisingly went like the clappers.
Nice to see a model of it.
