Will be trying to keep up with your build Roy as it looks very involved. Bit frustrating with that damaged part you had in such a premium kit - i hope they hang their heads in shame and get you sorted with an urgent replacement. Not into bikes myself but appreciate the wonderful model you have there but it got me thinking about their car kits i saw in the hornby shop at christmas made up. Have you ever had experience of making one? Just wondering if the quality of the car kits match the asking price? Hope all your issues are soon resolved and you can press on without further delay. Happy Modelling

When the monster box arrived, I must admit an almost-OOB build was on the cards.
After nearly 3 years of total scratch built giant cars, I fancied something easy, and just 'screw it together'.
Now that I've had time to fiddle with a few bits, get the extra hardware and the DVD, it's all changed.
As with all things Pocher, it's amazingly detailed, and equally amazing in just how much is missing. It just wouldn't do this lovely kit justice if I DON'T make and add the missing bits.
I know there's a monstrous upgrade kit out there by Autograph (I think) and very likely those bits will be better than what I can scratch but that's not the point I want to do it myself.
I will be scratching the missing stuff as the build progresses so this little project might just take somewhat longer than initially anticipated.
Oh dear...

Isn't that the joy of building models, trying to enhance the kit and make it your own. Also I just checked my engine cover and mine was OK seams you got a bad bit. I did see the trans kit, and I'm holding of until I know the cost £££ but if it's to much then I'll just be using Pauls bits. I'm going to make any 'extra' bits myself and add a very light touch of weathering, particularly the engine bits. These bikes are 'superbikes' and I'm fairly sure they are pampered and polished as much as Ferrari's and Lambo's so the engine won't be an oily dirty object. There will be some dust and grime in the nooks and crannies, but that's about it. Anyway, one of the side panels to go on next. The back of the part had to be filed down as it wasn't flat and 'wobbled' on the mirror tile I use check these things. Incidentally, a mirror tile is great for checking 'flatness', as any gaps show up very clearly, being reflected in the mirror. A gasket was cut from the thin foam and trimmed to fit. It was then carefully applied to the engine area, and then the outer cover was put in place. The hex bolts will be added next. Apologies for the 'first' pic being at the end. Somehow I missed it during uploading them all. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Thanks Ken. I've added a few more bits. Something missing are the blanking plugs over the huge holes in the cylinder heads where the fixing screws go. I made these by copying other plugs on the engine using good old Plasticine pressed over other similar plugs on the engine. These were cast in resin, trimmed and glued (CA) over the dreadful holes. The plugs will be painted silver. When I get the replacement engine cover part and fit it, the light weathering will be attended to. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Very interested to see how you intend to approach the engine 'weathering'
Good progress so far.

Many thanks guys. The replacement side cover arrived today so now that is fitted. The water pump assembly has also been added after cutting off the little plastic pipes that are supposed to be wiring. Proper wires are in place and will get some shrink wrap treatment when the shrink wrap arrives. That will also allow me to get on with adding some of the umpteen missing wires... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Nice 'clean' work on the main lump. When are you going to do the 'light' weathering?

I'm going to add some more of the engine bits before any weathering so that everything gets equal treatment, if you get my drift. Otherwise, I'll constantly be adding weathering to odd bits all the time and that's where it could end up looking uneven.

I've added the charcoal canister and oil filter to the engine. Also assembled and fitted is the starter motor. The oil filter in the kit is wrong in that the body should have ridges running around it. I made the ridges by scoring parallel lines in thick aluminium tape and then wrapping it around the filter body. It was then painted. The ignition block was also painted and assembled, and then fitted. I've now applied the first light washes of weathering using matt black, tan and dark earth paints thinned with white spirit. Frustratingly, it doesn't show up very much in photo's but it is there. I'm not going to go potty with weathering as I want the bike to still look very well cared for, but used. roymattblack attached the following image(s):
