Time for an update. Thanks to all who looked in and for the comments left. YES, I`m really enjoying this build. I think the reason for enjoying this so much is two fold. Firstly I`m learning a lot about what makes these engines work and second it`s a great kit to build. So the update: Stages 22 - 24 Stage 22: Test fit the axle boxes Fit the second wheel (bit fiddley but masking tape really helps) Fit the box guards Screw box guards in place Fit the first wheel as per the second Stage 23: Fit the third wheel as per the first two (next pic shows overall pic) Make up the connecting rods Fit the connecting rods Stage 24: Fit crosshead "B" Put the connecting rod in place Put crosshead "A" in place Screw crosshead "A" in place Fit the eccentric arms The above operations of stage 24 are repeated on the opposite side of the model Finally: Fit an expansion link central plate to an eccentric rod (x2) That`s all for now Regards delboy271155 (Derek) delboy271155 attached the following image(s): COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Thanks to all who looked in and many thanks for the kind comments. Al: The main part of the engine weighs in at very close to 1.7Kg, so when you add the other parts constructed it`s up around 2Kg as of the end of the two updates I`m posting today. So todays updates: Update one; Stage 25 pics show as follows Adding the Radius rods to the Expansion link central plates. Fit the outer and inner expansion link plates. Fit the hanging links. Make up two sets of these parts: Connecting links, Combination levers and Piston valve spindles. Add the previous parts to the end of the Radius rods. That completes stage 25. Stage 26 is abbreviated a bit, as difficult to get parts to stay in place until screwed together, but the instructions are very good and self explanitory. Fit the reverse shaft, add the previously made linkages and hold in place with the motion plates. Next fit the reverse links, connect the Eccentric rods to the Return cranks and then the Hanging links to the Crossheads. The last pic shows where I`m at with the end of stage 26. That`s all for this update, next one very soon. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) delboy271155 attached the following image(s): COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Hi Again, Second update today just to make for ease of viewing. Stage 27 sees the start of the leading truck. (Base for the front wheels) Pics below show what`s to do: Connect the Truck frames with the Centre beam. Fit the Rear bracket. Fit the Front bracket and Guard irons. That ends stage 27 Stage 28 continues the build of the Leading truck. Pics below show the following: Connect four links to the Truck mount. Connect the Truck mount to the Truck frame Final pic for stage 28. This also concludes Pack 4. I`ve added two more pics to show where the build is to date. Happy building Regards delboy271155 (Derek) delboy271155 attached the following image(s): COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Hi All, Thanks for looking in. One thing to say before the next update ref: Metal Mech wrote:Very nice progress. Love the assembly on all the running gear. Correct orientation of the parts of this build are essential. Parts can be fitted the wrong way and will cause issues. So, the update: More of the leading truck. (Pics below) Assemble two leaf springs with their hanging links Fit two equaliser bars to each leaf spring Fit the previous assemblies to the leading truck frame (Two pics) That completes stage 29. Hi All, Thanks to all the followers and thanks Dave for the comments. Looking forward to you getting back on this Dave. So onto the next update: This is more on the front truck and then fitting the truck to the main assembly. Really looking like a real train chassis now. In the pics below: Position the front and rear wheels in the truck frame. (Two pics) The next two pics show the side stays and then fitted with eight screws. Lastly the front truck is connected to the main assembly with a washer and bolt. (Also two pics) That ends stage 30. Hi, So this update gets me up to date with progress so far. The build now moves away from the main chassis and back to the smoke box and it`s details. The smoke box handle is fitted and the Headlamp started. The pics below show the following: The smokebox handle in position. The casing of the Headlamp fitted. (Careful with the adhesive here) Headlamp LED installed. Feeding the wires through the smoke box.(Two pics) That`s stage 31 complete.
