The extra plumbing always makes the Pocher engines pop.Great job as always Roy. I am experimenting with 3d printing the connectors and small pipes. My printer has 0.01mm resolution so it should be able to print very small parts well.

Sounds like a good idea Carl. If I had space to fit a 3d printer in my hidey-hole, I'd be tempted to get one. Very useful for creating masters for resin casting of smaller parts. Anyway, the oil lines have now been added to the rear of the engine, and the engine mounts added. The engine mounts need painting. That amounts to the bulk of the engine being finished for now apart from some linkages and wires etc when the engine is in the chassis. I still need to add the plug leads and caps but I'm currently casting some resin plug caps. If all goes well with them, they will be very useful in future 1/8 builds. Fuel tank bits next. Thanks for looking in chaps. I've now cast a small pile of plug caps, drilled them to take the ignition lead and also fit over the plug. All painted and fitted. Engine mounts have also been painted a light bronze/champagne colour as per some reference pics I have. Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Thanks Phil. The engine is to one side for now. Fuel tank etc next as it needs to be built up before the chassis frame is started. Horrendous join lines all round and numerous sink marks. All glued, filled, sanded and painted. BTW... The plonk and pizza was half past midnight last night (this morning?) in the garden. Hot as anything. Just didn't want to go to bed. A little more. The chassis frame is next, along with the fuel tank as it all needs to be assembled together. The central frame parts are sorted, and the two outer frames have been prepared and painted. They needed a bit of smoothing along the edges as they are metal pressings and the cut edges were like razor blades! Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Moving ahead slowly here. The inner chassis frames were assembled along with the brake system pulleys etc and alternator. The outer frames were added next and the various cross members added. Fitting the fuel tank in was - 'challenging'... The support straps are supplied as flat metal strips which need to be bent to shape. Awkward as they have to wrap around the fuel tank in the correct position which can only really be done with the tank fitted in place, which you can't do, as the straps are the fixings... catch 22. Anyway, now done and I have a worryingly large chassis sitting here. Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Thanks again chaps. This particular kit is one of the 'original' Bugatti's. It has the working differential gears that were dropped literally after the first year of production so the majority of Bugatti kits don't have the working diff. Assembly of the parts was pretty straightforward although the diff casings had to have the shaft support channels fettled a bit so that the gear shafts would sit in them properly, allowing the casing halves to close up neatly. Pic 1 shows the crown gear fitted back to front - I turned it round when I realised my error. All good fun. Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Nice work as always Roy, setting all of those gears and shafts correctly must have been real fun - well done.

Well, a bit more done in the past few days. The rear suspension has been assembled after a LOT of fettling. Each leaf of the springs has to be curved to fit together. Not easy when they actually are spring steel that resists bending. The wheel backplates are on and the dampers built and fitted. Rear axle etc also now in place. As with all Pocher models, the majority of stuff will never be seen once complete but it's fun to build. Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):
