The next stage brings up the parts for the second tank and wheel hum along withe the towing hooks, storage boxes for the passengers running board and the first mud guard.

If you are modelling the kit straight from the box you will need to add 4 bolts to the raised strip at the bottom of the mudguard as this s how the running board attaches to the mudguard
In my case this had to be removed.

The fit of the mudguard is not very positive and care is needed to ensure it does not droop while the glue cures.

the towing hooks all attache easily

I cleaned up the storage boxes and put them to one side until the running boards are in place.

The next set of parts are the engine fan and the next mud guard. there a re a considerable number of etch parts that build up to make a very authentic fan belt assembly, I have chosen to stick with the kit parts as non of this will be seen on my model so simply saving time.

The kit supplied fan belt part did not fit at all well and is over 2mm misaligned on one side while mating perfectly on the otherConfused anyhow won't be seen so did not pursue the issue.

Thanks all for looking in and the support Cool

Next up in the instruction build process is the wheels. The tyres pop on fairly easily but the front Axel assembly is quite delicate so decided to leave the wheels of until after initial painting. the rear Axel is much more sturdy so they were added.

once again I came across a fit issue. the front wheel assembly has a little disk in the middle, butt adding this left a 1mm gap between the front and rear half of the hub. I dry fitted the tyre and the wheel was wider than the tyre, leaving the disc off and everything fits ok, so I left them off.

The twin rear hubs went together with no issues and fitted to the Axel well.

The next stage ads the final piece of the front Axel assembly and some form of leaver onto the chassis. The instructions call for you to heat the ends of the location points on the hubs so that the front Axel will move. I have glued this in place as the assembly is quite sloppy and I suspect wheel alignment may be an issue later on.

I left off the leaver so I can check alignment with rear assembly yet to be added.

At the rear of the chassis is an assembly of four parts. the fit was good and minimal clean up. I noticed on my research photos that the small door actually has hole where the counter sunk part is so I will drill this out at some point before painting.
With the assembly in place the handle thing could be attached to the chassis at a 90 degrees angle to the frame.

the cabin floor and rear bulkhead is next. As with the running boards the waffle pattern on the floor pan is oversize. I gave it a rental sand prior to fitting the etch replacement. there are no holes in the etch so I marked the position of the front seat before fitting the etch. the base of the seat legs have etch bolt detail too so there is no need to drill holes.

with the assembly complete I dry fitted it to the chassis and DISASTER it does not remotely fitCursing Cursing
there is a good 1cm gap at the rear and more at the front. at this stage not clear if this is an issue with the kit or the etch. After some examination I decided the solution was to remove both the tanks and the etch running board supports, fit the floor and then tanks can be fitted and the etch last.

Thats it for now.

the rear mud guards are attached the the cab before it is fitted in place. Both the kit and the etch set get the arraignment of the lights and number plates wrong.

The kit supplies two tread steps two number plates and two single lens lamps. the lamps are incorrect and should be discarded. There should be one convoy light and one blackout tail lamp.
The etch kit supplies the correct light arrangement but only supplies one number plate, which is not correct it should be two. as it happens the kit number plates are much nicer then the etch one so between the kit and the etch you can get it right.

the were filed soothe then filled with Squadron putty before being sanded smooth with fine sandpaper and various grades of micro mesh.

the etch parts all come together well. I drilled a small .3mm hole in the chassis side to locate the start point of the light cables. I used .2mm wire for the light cables.

the mudguards are then attached to the cab before it is fitted to the chassis

With the cab in place the running bards can be fitted, the fit is good. The tanks were then refitted and finally the running board supports. These appear to be the root of the fit issue and are not deep enough. they have had to be dropped on the chassis frame to get a fit.

next up are the various gear and drive train levers

next job was the seats, these will be painted separately but I wanted the legs of the front seat bench to be painted with the rest of the Hanomag assembly. to achieve this the legs were fitted to the seat using take wax. this allowed the legs to be correctly positioned ensuring they fit the seat later in the build. the legs wear glued in place with CA. once dried a few seconds later the seat was carefully removed living the legs fixed in place.

With the cab floor in place the front foot plate needs to be added, the fit of this is not at all positive infant I was so concerned that it would cause other fit issues later decided to build up the bonnet.

the side panels have the latches and Handels sanded off ready for etch replacements.the radiator and front grill fit together will but you dont see the face of the radiator so I didn't bother with the etch radiator front. the bonnet sections build up well and once placed on the chassis give the front foot plate a positive fit.

once the glue was dry the bonnet assembly is removed and I could get to the foot plate to add the etch plate.
The kit pedals are replaced with two piece etch peddles and some added wire from stock.
