Hi friends
Well I was looking at menu Bismarck builds over the last month or so, just to get an idea on how the Hood remote control boat may be structured, and some are amazing, the details are superb.

Regards
Sid

Hi all and a Happy New Year to you. BigGrin

I have just started to build my BismarckBlushing, as I'm just about to finish the Flying ScotsmanLaugh .

I have a question what is the best was to straighten a twisted Hull base as you can see from the photo I have desided to start the Hull by joining all the parts together fist before adding the ribs but I have had to screw it down inorder to try and remove the twist's.

I first wetted the wood the laid batterys across to straighten but there was still a twist so I then screwed it to a old piece of wood which is flat and then used the hair dryer to try and dry it out is this right .

I've build ships before but never a soild flat bottom one.

I had a similar problem with my Yamato.
I steamed the whole lot, screwed it back down, and let it dry out naturally.
Then after adding the keel and the ribs, its perfectly flat.
Model boats built so far:-

Billings Cutty Sark
Scratch built twin IC RC Vosper MTB.
Scratch built rc electric hybrid.
Scratch built rc IC hydrofoil (ran happily on snow as well as water!)
Plus numerous numerous RC planes.

Under construction
Sovereign of the Seas!
1200:1 HMS Victory (by Mantua)
The Battleship Yamato (seriously considering building as an RC model)

Hi denissimo.

Thank you for your info, I wasn't total sure if this would work so if it doesn't work I will dig out the steam cleaner and give it a go.

Hot water should still work, but as I said, let it dry out naturally after you have screwed it back down.
Dont unscrew it from your board when its dry. Attach the keel and ribs etc while the base is still screwed down.
That will hold it straight and true when it comes to the time when you do have to take it off the board.

BigGrin Hi Mustang
I agree with what Denisimo has recommended but I would also do all the planking that's possible before unscrewing the keel plate

All of the above methods should work. You could also soak part in warm water and place between two large tiles with rubber bands to clamp it down and leave the part to dry naturally. I have used this method and it works OK hope this helps Ian.

Hi all, this is how far I've got.

I decided to do the decks first before the planking.

But there only on temporally.

This is how far I've got with the planking while it was still secured to the build board. But now I've removed it from the board this is how it looks.

The last picture look's a bit on the tilt but its just the angle I took the picture at.
