My exhaust first was sprayed with white primer, Halfords then I used Mig powder on it, light rust, city dirt, and dust. I then over sprayed with very thin Humbrol satin black. However the colour of a Mclaren exhaust is stainless steel with burnt metal shading over, if your not sure I use thin clear red and thin clear blue, sprayed almost to nothing This gives a very feint shadow of hot steel. If you need more hel get in touch.

Good stuff Tony, it all looks very realistic, especially the brake servo and copper piping - excellent work. Keep the pics coming. Kev

Hi Tony Your build is fantastic I love your engine Re the holes in part 46 the inside roof, rear morror and lights assembly. This will be hidden from view, inside the frame of the car,and they are used to fix the inside roof to the frame of the car, which we will receive in ISSUE 81. There are complicated stages in this build, where parts are built in assemblies then they come together when the main metal frames arrive. An example of this is the engine compartment which is not fitted to the frame in one piece, but in several pieces later on in the build, it is my understanding that anyone who has built this assembly now, will have to disassemble to fit it later, but do not take that as gospel. I will be building and enhancing more of this model when I have received the main frames, then I can see exactly where the brake pipes etc can be added.also I want to leather the doors etc, but I want to make sure the doors will close when fitted!!!!!!! To my knowledge Tony the interior lights are not designed to work, however we will discover this for sure later on in the build, then if not we can choose to enhance or not. I hope this post helps you in your build MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

Thats a bit of a shock not getting part 52 till next year. Looking at my parts list it says the roof, by which I assume they mean the diecast part is the next issue, or have I got it wrong. The whole thing seems so odd the way parts are sent, who else would send the chassis at the end of the build! I've never done any partworks before and find it very strange the way the things are distributed. Regards the engine compartment I cant see why it will need to be dismantled because that part and the interior fit together, so the front wings and main body fit over it much like any other kit wouldnt you think. If this is not the case alot of my work thus far will have been for nothing.

Hi Tony, Last Wednesday we received issue 49 so 52 will come 3 weeks later. next Wednesday (21st December) we receive ISSUE 50 which includes parts as follows Right fuel tank, Right fuel tank cover and the left fuel tank cover hinge. As I said in my last post Tony we build assemblies which we then fit to the main chassis units when they arrive. I hear what you are saying about the engine compartment, and I like you would think it would be a straight forward fit and may be it is, but I was told the the engine compartment fitted in sections under the wings, so I am playing safe over this area, but I did say dont take this as gospel, all I am doing is answering your questions to the best of my knowledge. If you require ISSUE details upto 85 I can furnish this,as you have have guessed I by my ISSUES from my newsagent. Thanks for getting back to me. As you may have seen some of my sub assemblies have got a bit complicated ha ha, so I'm just hoping that I dont have to take it to pieces. I am also building the Mclaren from Deagostini and this seems to follow a more regular sequence.

Hi Tony, You are a talented modeller and should be very proud of what you are achieving. I for one am hoping that you don't have to dismantle some of your excellent work in the engine bay when it comes to fitting things together, would be such a shame to have to do that. Kev
