I am so sorry to hear you are cancelling!! Sod the PDF files, I can live without those, but it will be such a shame to lose a fellow builder!! Are you really sure? I am a complete novice at wooden builds, but after joining this forum I know that there is enough help and experience here to help me acheive a reasonable build. It is your choice of course, but I hope you carry on with your build, as I am sure there will be plenty of help!!

Sorry to hear your leaving Jim, Hey mate we all have to start somewhere , This is my first build . Jim all you need is patients mate , If your not happy with a piece make it again . It is simple enough to get a new piece of Ply from a model shop and have another go , all the materials used are widely available . Scan the pieces into your comp you can always print copies and remake them . After saying all that mate if your not happy then what's the point after all its only a hobby , You have to be happy in your mind to continue Jim . Hope you give it another go , Believe me mate when your finished you will be proud of your efforts . Here.s hoping you make the right decision Jim . thanks for the PDF files

Thanks for all your kind comments. It really is down to my lack of skill that is the problem I never have been very good with my hands. I was a bit naive not to realise how much modelling was involved rather than just sticking part A to part B. Still never mind Good luck to you all and I expect to see an armada of Victory's in 2 years time.Follow my build to learn how to make firewood

sorry to hear you are leaving Jim you will be sorely missed.
On to another point and it is to do with the launch build in the instructions it says the duckboards are actual size do not take that as gospel.I followed it and when i had completed them and painted same went to fit them in the bottom of the launch only to find they wre to small so have to start again Its only a small point but i thought worth bringing up

sorry to hear you are leaving had a look at your build diary whats wrong with it looks good to me r u having probs with launch?? think a few of us are u can alwats go back to it as the main hull is larger & stronger planks will be used might find it easier & clearer to do then go back to smaller & more delicate bits Think of cost on initial outlay on paints glues tools books etc either way you decide thanks for help with pdfs

Eh? What's this? Mutiny? Desertion? Can't be having any of that now. Pull yourself together and man your workstation! Seriously though, whilst this build is probably going to be anything but 'easy', the rewards, in terms of experience and new skills learned, (not to mention the ownership of a really nice model at the end) makes it worth the effort of continuing. If you really are convinced that continuing would be akin to being on a course of self-punishment, why not get hold of a nice, 1/100 scale Heller/Airfix HMS victory and have a go at one of those instead and keep us informed of your progress? The instructions are a bit vague in places - but combined with this build and forum, they will make a lot more sense. If not, it'll be a real shame to lose you. I have enjoyed reading your posts and admired your dogged (no pun intended) determination. Rich Schnellboots on back burner

Sorry to see you go Jim, you are right, it is a lot of money, but the way I see it this will keep me occupied for probably 3,4 or 5 years, even when the subscriptions are finnished I'll still be working on it! treat it as an aprenticeship and don't rush, its not a model it is a work of art and everyones build will be different, you will miss it when its stopped! And its thanks to you that I can post this reply!!!! anyway, best of luck whatever you do. Jeff.

It will be a shame if you did pack it in Dedworth, especially that you have taken so much trouble with the PDF's. Think about it, I'm sure you can do it. I have never built a wooden model before but am determined to make a go of it. I think you should too, don't let it get you down. TIS
