BigGrin Hi All
I managed to get all the masking done on the hull and spray the lower hull with the merchant ship siloette, the colour is another mad mix of 2 colours to achieve[3 for the ghostly green colour].Now for a coat of mat varnish to seal the paint layer before a little dirtying up is done but i dont think il be adding any rust as she was sunk on her maiden voyage and finaly the anchors and her name decals added.
All in all im quite pleased with the results so far and suprised myself with how well the siloette turned out, as ussual all comments and questions are welcome

Nice job Andy. That really is a wierd colour they used ..but I can see that it was probably more effective than battleship grey with black & white dazzle paint.

BigGrin Thanks for the kind words Rob,totally agree about the wierd colour but apparently all IJN ships were painted this colour for the last 12 months of the war.Tbh i think they had just run out of grey and this was the only colour available in the naval storesLaugh Drool Laugh

BigGrin Hi All
Some more progress on the lower hull all the etch and guns have now been added, i added the name decal then gave it a spray coat of matt varnish but it looks more like satin to me.After that i added some rust to the anchors and chains then used a wash of watered down smoke to dirty it up a little,im not too sure about the wash though as i think i may have thinned it down too much as its not that noticable.
As ussual all comments questions are welcome

BigGrin Hi All
I have now finished the construction of the hull,i didnt go for the removable flight deck option as there are 3 suport struts which are left hanging and odds are they will fly off into the never to be found draw within a short time so i fixed it down.
The 12 various aircraft still have to be finished/painted and will be posted in due course. As for my overall view on the kit there were some small issues with fit of parts but nothing that couldnt be sorted and the etch has definatly made a diffrence to the detail and im quite pleased with the resultimg model apart from the satin clear coat thats sold as mattCrying .Your comments/questions are always welcome

Crying I have decided that the the aircraft supplied in the kit are just too small to cope with at the moment as my eyes wernt what they are and im making a compleat hash of them ,i may finish them at a later date when i get a decent pair of specks or a good head magnifier

Hi Andy!
I also start building a 1/700 scaled water line model. It is U.S. Navy battle ship Missouri from TAMIYA CO. I have additionally bought etch part's set from Lion Roar.BigGrin
It will be a present for my friend who likes this battle ship very much.
I am going to make it as Tokyo-Bay version. It is well known that WWII was over on this battle ship in the Tokyo-Bay.Cool
I wonder when I will reach the goalConfused
Best Regards,
Yutaro

Very nice build indeed Andy and a lovely looking model. I don't build the model ships as I've said in the past but watching you build your plastic ones has begun to stir an interest in possibly doing one myself!! Ever since I saw one for sale at a jumble sale when I was much, much younger (mum wouldn't buy it for me though!! CursingCrying ), I've always fancied the idea of doing a USS Hornet, the carrier which was used for the 'Doolittle Raid' on Tokyo, with all those B-25 Mitchells stacked up on the flightdeck ready to go!! Mmmm.... think that idea may well come to fruition some time next year so I'm gonna have a look to see what's available for a future project. You've certainly brought some memories back to me Andy - Thanks!!

Well played sir and I'll look forward to watching you build some more, good stuff mate!! BigGrin Cool ThumpUp

BigGrin Hi Kev
Thanks for the nice comments,as for the idea about the doolittle raid that could make an intresting subject but i think there may be a problem with obtaining the subject matter due to scale and availabilty to match the carrier and aircraft.
Mind you if you make her about 20/30 feet long there shouldnt be a problem getting the aircraft to scale on herLOL Blink Love Drool
