Hi All The hull base section is now compleat except for some dirtying up, I repainted the main rollers with Tamiya XF-56 Metalic Grey as any paint would soon disappear after a couple of miles running the upper rollers did have a coating of rubber so these were left matt black. The tracks also have had a coating of the metallic grey paint, I think this colour matches cast steel/iron quite well but im sure everyone has there own preferances here. regards Andy arpurchase attached the following image(s): Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Excellent work Andy, I like it! I use metallic grey on all my tracks as a base coat. I think gun metal is way to dark and I have not found another base colour I like. Looking forward to your next post and pics!!

Looking good Andy. I always have a self debate about track colours, so many model paint call outs tell you to paint them rust, which is really not right unless it's an abandoned tank & not moved for a while. I've now started painting them dark iron with a thin top coat of what ever environment I see them to be in, i.e. dark mud, light mud, sand, dry etc. Think it will always be one of those contentious points. Look forward to seeing your progress. (which I could progress as fast as some on here! ) Wilfy

Hi Nem, Wilfy Your right I think every one has there own method for tracks but I cant see a full coat of rust would look right or even be close to full size as any movement and the tracks rubbing as it travels overland would certainly take a lot of rust and any paint off them and keep the metal looking like its been freshly filed but I think there would be a small amount here and there where no contact is made. thanks for looking in and your comments more to follow soon regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Andy
very nice progress. The base coat for tracks is less important in my view, than the weathering that follows. As it happens I tend to use a fairly light brown to start then some dark washes, some lighter dust/mud etc and finally a metallic dry brush. But as I say each to his own. I<ve just started to use Friuls so for these a light sanding will replace the final metallic dry brush. Watching this one with interest. John

Looking good Andy & as already said the pe is making the detail look fantastic.
Do you Super Glue all your pe?
Wilfy

Hi Wilfy Thanks for looking in and your comments there always appreciated. Most of the time I use superglue but on boxes I just assemble them and they generally don't need any glue if made up correctly, as for the miniscule bits iv used paint, white wood glue anything but super glue as I always get an overflow that masks the part even if I use a pin to apply the glue [ think iv got fat finger syndrome ] regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi All A little more progress on the etch chains added and other various bits like the fire appliances [well I think that's what they are] and brackets then I added the driving compartment detail, the dashboard dials haven't been added yet as I have some dial prints on plastic to add here. Its suprising how time fly's when your adding etch, as usual all comment/questions are welcome regards Andy arpurchase attached the following image(s): Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .
