Thankyou to everyone for all the nice comments, it really means a lot to me especially as its my first partwork and exactly a year ago i was wondering if i should even begin this as it looked so difficult. DeAgostini have done a great job in making it possible for someone like me to produce something I'm really happy with, in affordable installments which also sets a good build pace with deliveries coming just as i need them (I don't work for them....honestly ). I really think that having this diary is pushing me to do the best i can because I know you guys are going to get to see it as well, plus there is the added bonus of seeing some of your builds at more advanced stages. Anyway, I'm now about to begin the main mast so can put the hull away for a while! Cheers Everyone

A little more done now, the main mast is complete and also the main lower yard so have now completed up to issue 67, foremast is next. I found the mast fun to build with no problems, its like a separate model on its own As you can see by the lack of blocks on the yard im going for the bare spars option as per the Vicory today and also the official build. stevie_o attached the following image(s):

Been busy on the fore mast recently but now complete along with the lower foremast yard, all exactly the same as the main mast and yard so not much to report really. But I have got around to painting some of the HAT figures - 22 done, lots to go. I have painted 2 marines and 5 complete crews of 4. There are 8 complete crews in the kit, all the rest are marines and sailors in boarding mode with cutlasses, pikes and axes - Im going to modify these to hold ropes etc instead of weapons. stevie_o attached the following image(s):

Nice one Steve I looked at the HAT figures, some nice poses, but too large for my 1/100 scale, so I used 15mm Minifigs instead. Well done again. Regards Alan England expects that every man will do his duty.

Hi, thanks for the comments, I was trying to add some text between the pics but it already posted before i could do it. The guys holding the cannon balls I plan to drill out a hole and place the metal cannon balls in their place, the shot of the crew from the back is showing the first batch i did and was testing different skin tones to see which was best, i then decided to use all different tones anyway. The last few shots are the 5 crews i have so far. The other figures that are holding axes and pikes will have their weapons removed and hands drilled out to accept ropes and i will have them pulling down at any rope ends instead of using belaying pins maybe.
