Neon, nothing wrong with what you have done so just carry on as you are with the other side. As long as you are above the stern deck level you will be fine, this all gets cut down when you come to measuring and marking out for the gun ports.

Hope this helps.

Alan

Hi Neon, looking at your build again it looks as if you are still a little low from the stern deck line... I would add another 50mm strip so you are above the deck line, this will be trimmed down later. If you have to, add a temporary bracing strip on the inside to hold your last strip in place..... Cool Cool.. Other than that you are doing great....Cool Cool

Hope this helps..

Alan

cheers Alan. ...will do that so. What grade sand paper would you recommend for sanding the hull.Looks like a tough job.

Well lads at just over a years work I finally finished the hull today. I never thought so much work went into a build like this. This is my first build and I am more then happy with how this end of it turned out. I have done most of the heavy sanding and have rubbed over with some fine paper. My hand is falling off now so will give it another lash tomorrow. Although the picture may not show it, it is very smooth. Is it necessary to rub all the fillers out or is it ok to leave it as a finish ?

Hi Neon, looks first class to me, very well done.... Cool Cool .. Wouldn't worry too much about the filler, all you are after is a very smooth hull ensuring you have filled or rubbed down all the dips and bumps. Once you are happy you will find everything is covered up by the second layer of planking..Cool Cool .. Looking at what you have produced so far I don't think you should have too many problems applying the second layer plus you can always refer to the other builds for guidance and inspiration..... Good luck and look forward to seeing your progress...Cool Cool

Regards

Alan

BigGrin Hi Neon as long as the hull is smooth with no high or low spots it will be fine to leave the filler as the 2nd planking will cover it BigGrin Happy building rgd Martyn

Hi lads

just finishing cutting the gun ports on one side of the hull. I must say I found this very tricky to do. I am reasonably happy with the outcome.

Go easy on me lads I am very brittle after all this work. If course positive criticism is more then welcome or any pointers for where I have gone wrong.
