Looks like you have got the rigging sorted there, Garth. I have to say, I’m impressed with the Hackle Pliers. Never thought of using those for tying blocks. I have ordered a couple in readiness for my own build. Keep it going and good luck. Chris

I have tried this, but my flies look worse than my rigging The tools do come in handy though. Kind regards, Garth "Measure twice, cut once!!!" Finished!!! HMS Victory, Current build: Black Pearl. Hi All, 4. Making & fitting deadeyes to the chain wales. Well, now that that’s out of the way, it’s back to modelling the Pearl!!! Note on blackening. I’m finding my feet with the Brass Black now. My best results have been to rub the photo etched brass down with steel wool while everything is still in the fret. Cut them off & file the ends, soak them in the solution for a minute or so, rinse & allow to dry. I then rub off all the scale – most of the black comes off, then back into the solution. It seems to stick after the second dunking. I fitted all the brass to the deadeyes as per the instructions & fitted them to the model. No curveballs here. All went according to the instructions. Once done, I ran a drill bit through all the holes for the thread and I touched up some of the brass that showed through with some Brass Black on an earbud. I will touch up the nails with a dab of black paint later. I think they could do with a bit of rusty weathering as well. Kind regards, Garth Garth attached the following image(s): "Measure twice, cut once!!!" Finished!!! HMS Victory, Current build: Black Pearl. 05 Masts & Bowsprit - Part 01 I am going to upload my first set of drawings. My intention is to have 2 of each drawing, one large and one small (that will display) Only download the _Large drawings if you are going to use them as a reference to build from – no point in wasting data. Hope this works. Apologies for the pixeled small drawings, they don’t resize as well as images. If anybody is going to follow my rigging plans, please note the following: (on drawings - Fore & Main Mast Additions & Bowsprit) - Fit one 3mm block under the cross tree on the fore mast – jib running rigging - Fit 6 3mm blocks under the fighting tops of the fore and main mast – fore & mainsail running rigging - Fit 2 3mm blocks to the bowsprit - jib running rigging - Fit 1 5mm D deadeye – extra stay to secure new jib - Note the position of the two new stays – purple line I will post some images of my progress in the next couple of days. Kind regards, Garth File Attachment(s): Garth attached the following image(s): "Measure twice, cut once!!!" Finished!!! HMS Victory, Current build: Black Pearl. Well those fishing tools you mentioned in one of your earlier posts look really useful. I ordered up the bobbin reel holder and a set of those tiny pliers - sure they are going to be very useful. Tony Happy Modelling
