Some fantastic scratchbuilding skills on show here Phil, as always. I am constantly amazed at how much extra detail you are able to add to each section of this build. You must have some very comprehensive reference material?!

Good evening from 'The Dockyard'.

So lots more progress this week in fitting out the Control Room.

The attached photo shows the trim pump, enhanced with many scratch-built parts to bring it to life.

The trim pump is used to move water from one internal tank to another throughout the submarine to keep it level when dived.

I then started on the ballast pump, again, adding many scratch-built parts. This pump will be fitted to the aft bulkhead once i have the deck plate fitted next week.

The ballast pump is used to pump water out of the submarine or bring water in. For example, if a torpedo is fired, the weight of the torpedo has to be compensated for and this is where the ballast would be used to pump sea water into the submarine into the torpedo compensating tank. When alongside, it would be used to pump out the sewage tanks and discharge to a tank on the jetty.

Now it was time to fit the forward and aft bulkheads, deck head and lower hull section into the Control Room and start to bring it to life! BigGrin

Lots of fiddly work and nothing would go together straight away as a valve handwheel would catch or the pipes would be in the way, but eventually i got all the parts located and glued.
