There were some details on the side of the gun that were obscured due to the printing process and I really wanted to enhance these items.

The first item is a cocking lever I made from a small scrap piece of brass, filed to a slight taper and a 0.8mm diameter round of plastic rod glued to the end.

I then added further detail to the locking lever by drilling through it with a 0.5mm diameter drill and inserted a small rivet to represent a pivot point.

I then made a 'stop' for the cocking lever by drilling through with a 0.5mm diameter drill and inserting a small rivet.

The end of the tweezers in the photo point to the 'stop'.

The next step was to replace the fragile control surface handwheels, of which there are three on the gun, by making them from scratch.

The control surface handwheels were made using various pieces of plastic strip and rod filed to shape with further detail added from 0.5mm diameter brass rod for grab handles. Finally, etched after market hand wheels were fixed in place with small rivets.

In this photo is the first of the completed scratch built control surface handwheel alongside the printed version.

The next job was to replace the cardan shaft which transmits drive between the gun body and its turntable.

I used 1.5mm diameter brass tubing, drilled through to open its internal diameter to 1.0mm and chopped this into three pieces. One longer and two shorter to represent the universal joints.

I then inserted a length of 1.0mm diameter brass rod through the three tubes and bent it to shape.
