I am just as frustrated as the rest of you I subscribed week 1 and was supposed to to receive my 4 issues every month on the middle of the month on that basis i would fall one week behind the shop issues then be three ahead. this was important as i am trying to do a build diary for people who have never made a model before. now with the constant slipping of the deliveries i have lost nearly a month so i am constantly behind the shop deliveries. the real issue DeAgostine now have to consider is they want people to subscribe but there is no advantage to it. there should be an advantage to subscription for the subscriber either in cost or delivery time. at the moment there are only disadvantages to the subscription service and thats why we are all getting a bit frustrated. I am sorry but a statement from admin is not enough long term there needs to be an advantage otherwise everybody would be best cancelling the subscription and purchasing from the newsagent. loosing the sales opportunity that subscription provides. Admin its time to face the music and address your loyal thus far customers with some outstanding customer service!! “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

It does appear that the probs with deag go back some years. Same excuses same complaints etc. Read on. I found this: Comments: I subscribe to treasures of the earth, and i have found that this is the worst subscription service i have ever come across. I have rang numerous times and emailed to complain that i have not been receiving my subscription to no avail. I am now considering a legal action as they have broken a contract by accepting payment without delivering the agreed subscription. I wish that we had a negative rating as this company would be well into the minus score. turbojohn at 12th Jun 2008, 01:00AM My experience of this company is very much like everyone elses. ever since we started subscribing to treasures of the earth magazine for our ten year old son, these people have been totally useless. After recieving a few magazines we were told our details had been removed from their system as payment had been refused which, as we already knew, was a complete pack of lies as they had not even requested payment. Several phone calls later they still had done nothing, but eventually we were told our details were on the system again. Then we actually had about a month where we did not have to contact them, until now. They have now sent us an issue that we already have and so far I have tried ringing and have sent, to date, four e-mails which have been totally ignored. If possible, i would rate this company as a minus score. Rath at 30th Jan 2008, 09:48PM A resume of how my subscription to Star Wars was dealt with by DeAgostini. I subscribed on behalf of my 10 year old son. After receiving a number of issues, I suddenly received an additional binder which we did not want as we already had one as a free gift with earlier issues. I rang to say we didn?t want it and was told that unless we specifically cancelled it in advance, we would have to pay the £5.99 for it (how are we supposed to cancel something in advance when we don?t know its coming???). So I dutifully sent a cheque for £5.99 on 20th October. I cancelled my subscription by phone on 6th October 06. I was then told that as issues 16 and 17 had already been despatched to me and so I would have to pay for them. I sent a cheque off immediately. As of today, 28th November, I have still not received issues 16 and 17, despite 3 phone calls (costing me money) to the company to be told that they had been despatched and I should get them ?in a few days? ? a stock answer it seems. I was then told that I had still not paid the £5.99 for the binder (I didn?t want) even though the cheque had cleared my account. I was also told that one of the 2 issues outstanding, was also not paid for ? despite the cheque for £11.98 having cleared my account. I was then told that I might have to forward a copy of my bank statement to prove I had paid. What a complete and utter shambles. When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told they were busy, a line manager ? not available and so on. So it seems that it is impossible to complain to DeAgostini. Luckily I found this website and have emailed Jackie Smith with my complaint. Needless to say, I will never subscribe to anything from DeAgostini again. D.Rowlands diana@rowlandsandnaylor.co.uk at 28th Nov 2006, 02:24PM Dear Subscribers, I would like to start by offering my sincere apologies for any problems that you have experienced to-date, and to assure you of my best attention in this regard. I've not received anything either. I post a considerable amount of goods from home (eBay sales) and always use second class. I would estimate that 75% of it is delivered next day with the remainder within 3 days. Just don't understand the delays unless Deags posting dates are ficticous!
I am seriously considering giving up and buying the Caldercraft kit, cheaper and in my oppinion better quality (if you register the kit they will even send you updates and amendments foc), all the problems we've encountered already with Cannons, rib 15 and warped parts and we're only at the start of the build are seriously discouraging me.
The only good thing about this Deag build is you guys on this forum with your fountains of knowledge and great tips and fixes.

I work for a large British bank, and the current focus is on treating customers fairly. In fact, this is the focus for many financial institutions at present after the crap of the last couple of years.
The idea behind it is that if the customer is happy with the service they've received, then they're more likely to invest in another product, and also to recommend the company to friends and colleagues.
DeAg need to provide good service to customers to ensure that once a build is complete, the customers already gained are more likely to move onto another build, and continue to add funds to DeAg's coffers. With customers leaving mid-way through this build, they are no only losing revenue for the Victory line, but also any future funds.
So customer satisfaction needs to become their main focus, and they need to start doing it soon. They need to have someone other than Admin looking at these forums to understand the problem being suffered from their main source of income, because we are their lifeblood.

i have just returned home from the town to find nothing on my door mat too..these problems have been described in the past as teething problems, and lets give them a chance and so on and so on but i dont think so anymore i think its just how they run and have always run the company, nobody gives a toss..last month the issues were posted on the 9th and we all received them on the 15th,this month posted on the 3rd and it looks like receiving again on or around the 15th again,i remember at the start we got them right at the start of the month 2nd or 3rd..anyway i have been into town to talk to newsagents but to no avail so it looks like i will jump ship too if no reason is given to this fiasco and will just buy the full kit cause i really want to build this boat cheers benny

Your observations re subscribers and loyalty are fine words. What is equally sad is that so many of us, myself included, are spending time on this subject as opposed to our model building. Hi . I also am not happy and am currently rethinking my situation in building this ship.
By my working out weekly it would take 2yr 2months to build. Where as subscribing to this which I have it works out 4 issues a month which would take us 2yr 6months. which is about 16 issues behind the newsagent...... by the end...... On the bench 1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.

I must be the odd one out here? I do not wish to fuel any arguments but personally, I dont care what part of the month I get mine, as long as I do get them! even if that mean being behind the newsagent by 6 months. If your not happy with money being taken from your account before you recieve your issues, then why not switch to Invoice payments? As for a build diary, Tomic provides us with one on a regular basis, one that I feel is spot on for the build. Best wishes David Ship Builds on the go

i agree with you david, so long as we get our model at the end of the day although some info would be nice on whats going on, and tomick is a godsend so far as the build is concerned, as ive already stated on another thread, lets just get on with it and enjoy the banter, stop the moaning or create a moan thread to keep it all in one place. yes freedom of speech but i have enough moaning at work without hearing it with my hobby current builds

Am ~I missing something here...what is the point about having some sort of advantage because you pay online or by DD and wait a month between deliveries ...ie your a subscriber...I collect mine from my newsagent weekly next week I will get issue 24 the week after 25 I go to the shop pay my money weekly ie I subscribe on a weekly basis I will allways be ahead of those that get issues on a monthly basis...and I make no appologies for it...think about it they are sent out to shops and any not sold are returned to De Ag to supply postal subscribers...this is buisness the concept of loyalty either by you to De Ag or vica versa is meaningless ...it would be great if it were different if we still lived in a time when loyalty was a concept in buisness ..but alas we do not I have two bank accounts one that was opened with The State Bank of South Australia in 1952 the other in this country when I moved here 27 years ago neither of them give a stuff about my account make a small mistake and they will cane you for it Everything that happens with this build is about money it's not about staff being lazy the post office stuffing up ...if issues are sent out late there is a financial reason for it...having said all this I have enjoyed doing this so much I have leared ne skills from others learned to look at problems with this build in a different way get input from people all over the country from jordie land from welsh wales from scotland to cornwall...I ish somebody would wave a magic wand and fix all the problems, but it aint gonna happen folks...I understand some of us cant get to shops as easily as others and Iam not sure how to address that but for the majority..."look up the writing is on the wall" longest wait I get is sometimes they are on thursday instead of wednesday ..the solution is in your hands . I think you are bang on. The question is how or when do you jump ship and go independant and how do you manage the gap between subscription copy and shop purchase. Whatever the answer is, I'm sure you are right. That way DeAgostini don't get my money early but they'll never learn. ArtfulBodger Previous Build: HMS. Bounty
