Should do the job Daran and still give you the option to open up the rear to show off the engine if people should ask to see it?
Historically though it's totally incorrect as you so rightly say!? Personally, I would prefer it to be accurate and what you really ought to have done was arranged for that well known WWII Soviet Tank engineer Plastikhinjy Toritovsky to inspect and advise on a decent and more to the point historically correct repair!!

Well that was a success!! The hinges work fine and blended quite well I think as I also had to scratch build the inspection hatch hinges as they gave out too! The heavy chipping and scratches are now finished on the whole of the upper hull. They look very sharp and harsh for now, but once I have started on the weathering, rain streaks, rust, dust and other bits and pieces, they will tone down and look more natural. Please excuse the reindeer tea tray, but it is perfect for doing the weathering on, as it catches powders and they dont stick, allowing you to scrape them back in the pot so no waste!!

I have started the weathering and detailing on the upper hull. Lots to do yet, but I think its getting there.

She's looking ever more fabulous with every update Daran and I love the way that you do your scratches and chipping!! A lot of people rely too heavily on the new fandangled craze for 'chipping' fluid but it can be done just as easily with plain old painting skills such as yours my friend and doesn't cost a fortune like some of the latest products - they really aren't necessary.
Well done and looking forward to seeing her completed matey!!

Hi Nem Nicely done @ Kev why dont you do a tutorial to show how effects are achieved using painting skills alone , I am sure there are many on the forum who would be interested in such a tutorial. Thank you for the comments and looking in on the build. Still a way to go yet, but getting there. Next step is tools and cables, then some rust and dust and a few more rain streaks. Then I can matt varnish and do the final details.

Cleats are done with some nice photo etch straps to hold them in place, spare tracks are fitted and the 2 man saw, which is a pe replacement and really has sharp teeth!! Needs weathering as its a bit shiny. Still a way to go, tow cables next!!

Fantastic work as always Daran, love it all and that two man saw looks sharp enough to use for model making as a back up 'micro-saw'
Well done mate, keep 'em coming?

You sure you haven't just dragged that through your local building site Daran?? It looks very much like real rubble dust to me. Hmmm, .... very suspicious matey!!
Seriously though that's very nice work mate.
P.S. - Is that Stalingrad dust or Berlin dust?

Hello Jase, thank you for looking in and your comment. Not much more to do on the hull now, then I can get on with finishing the turret.

Well I am calling the hull done for now. Headlamp fitted as are the towing shackles. Fuel runs on the tanks are done with linseed oil, it stays wet looking even when its dry to the touch. Maybe a bit of fine tuning and tweaking when the turret is in place, but these are the last photo's of it until the final completed photo shoot.
