Very helpful Kev, it's just something to do with the 1:8 kit is really appealing and the level of detail that can be added is incredible. And being 1:8 it will be fairly easy (easy may not be the correct word) to add the precision detail.

Yeah, I know what you mean Mark, 1:8 is very appealing.

It's something I started about 3-4 years ago when I was under my old 'SennaMentalMe' username?
One of the sites in that list is this one from a guy who likes to superdetail Tamiya 1:12 F1 kits and also scratchbuilds some of his own cars if they aren't available as kits, like his 1972 'Yardley' McLaren M-19C - lovely car!!:
