After thinking about various ways to re-do the deck planking of The Victory so i don't have to mark them out with the pencil method, which i'm really not happy about, and taking on board all the great advice i have recieved ( thank you chaps ) i have decided to follow the official build but add to it, the 1.5mm deck support beams will be changed to 1mm, with support pillars underneath to add extra strength, then follow the build as per instructions with the 1.5mm planking, then use 1mm pre-cut and treenailed planks on top of this ( not sure what material yet, thinking about Tanganyka ) which will give me a thickness of 3.5mm, after sanding it will be or pretty close to 3mm, not changing the height of the decks and giving me the finish that i'm looking for, unless anybody can see a flaw in what is now plan "B", all comments very welcome Gibbo attached the following image(s): Building: DelPrado HMS Victory. Should be ok. As long as you dont build up the deck beyond the intended hight as you may push out the alignment of the cannons with the gun ports Jase “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

The dummy cannon supports have been fitted and painted black, balsa in-fills have been added throughout the bow and stern sections and have been sanded to near the final stages, a little bit more refining needed and then ready to start planking.
